and I never paid it.

It was in a bumfack nowhere Bisbee, Arizona, just few miles north of Mexico border. The whole district is a rural 5-block countryside. The town has like 5k population.

I guess that ticket never went to a 'central' registry? Or perhaps no such thing exists?

Am I going to die?

Bisbee is a nice town. You should pay your ticket, they could really use the money.

you should probably pay the ticket or it might come back when you least expect it to ruin your career, your marriage and your life.

I like that there is a Bisbee fan here. I've spent a fair bit of time there due to having some family there. I'd never live there, but it is an interesting place, it's mostly populated by a bunch of artists/hippies that moved there from the CA bay area after the 60's. It also has a giant open pit of doom in the middle of the town which is always fun.

Huh. A town that hasn't cashed in on the treasure trove of unpaid tickets. I didn't pay a ticket in Florida and left the country for 6 years. When I got back I couldn't get a drivers license....

Deported to where - my home country USA?
First they came for the illegal immigrants, and I said nothing.
Then they came for the gun owners, and I said nothing.
When they came for the outstanding warrants, there was nobody left to speak out.

Pay your damn ticket.

I have an artist friend who lives in Bisbee and went to a Murder Mystery one weekend at the Copper Queen. It's a nice town.

my - foreign - dad owned a buick lesabre, and we had a house in the hamptons we'd go to every summer. He had a business building houses there, and was doing pretty well. he also had a business in film distribution, and we could afford transatlantic flights every year, so for the early 90s we were doing pretty darn good.

So, one day we're there, in East Hampton, and it's the evening and the Sheriff shows up. I was like, 16yo.

he comes knocking and asks for my dad. My dad was a very posh person, the kind of guy who listens to opera and his idea of fun was visiting old churches.

When my dad speaks to him, the sheriff says "i have an arrest warrant". My dad's thinking "omg what has he done", not that i had ever been in trouble, but a parent would think that.

And then the sheriff was like, no, i'm here to arrest YOU.

My dad turned white like a ghost, couldn't think what the hell he could possibly be arrested for. I don't think he's ever not paid taxes or even smacked someone.

Well, the previous summer he's got 2 parking tickets, put them in the glove compartment, and forgot about them. yup. unpaid tickets.

In the end he just paid them there and then, but i'll never forget how hard he was shitting himself.

(there is no such thing as jail for tickets in Italy, and likely not anywhere else in europe)

Do you not have a car anymore? Pretty sure your dad should have gotten a complaint from your insurance company about your suspended license. 9 years isn't that long ago.
