This PICTURE was taken with a Panasonic fx-01k digicam. it is Trent Reznor performing head Liek A Hole on his new DVD release Beside You In Time. This is the HD-DVD version being played on my xbox 360's HD-DVD drive onto my Vizio 47" 1080p LCD TV using component (it's outputting 1080i)

Here is the original pic, 2816x2112 99% quality and 2.8mb

wow, very nice.

I, personally, am waiting for that sweet 1 million:1 contrast ratio LCD TV. That's the ultimate hotness.

EGM claims the 360 hd-dvd addon is subpar compared to other players and the nowhere as good as the PS3's Bluray.

Even so, you can't deny even from a pic that looks fantastic.

Now, if one could just make NiN and other industrial bands sound good, one would be in business. Although, I do not think any amount of advanced sound editing can fix that, except maybe a mute button.

Blasphemy! On NIN anyway. I'm not a huge fan of his new stuff (Iconsider that from "Perfect Drug" and on), but his old stuff brings back so many awesome memories. I lost my virginity to his first album!

Nowhere near? Do I smell a fanboy?

edit: the 360 had some problems with it's vga output, which I think were fixed with a firmware update. The addon itself wasn't causing the problems.

Hahah, EGM is the authority on HD content now? Go read AVS Forum for a more "technical" viewpoint.

exactly what this thread was about.

let's not just enjoy the picture quality of the LCD, but turn this into an argument in which it is proven what music is better than others. i love those debates.

I think AVSForum was actually finding that the 360 HD-DVD player was as good as pretty much any of them.

The problem I've always had with game websites/magazines doing comparisons like that is that they typically seem to have no idea what they're doing and so don't even test them properly. In fact when it comes to any technical prowess I don't put much stock in game websites/magazines at all.

360 is my only console.

Dude is soaking wet. Is he sweating in that vid? The detail on it is amazing, but it's a little gross that you can actually see the guy's pores. I don't know if I'd actually like watching a movie where you can see that much detail of a person's face.

Easy now, its just the jealousy of big screen 1080 LCD HDTVs talking, not the music purist (I actually own 2 NiN albums).

Nice but it's scaled down too much to really tell us much. You need to post a larger pic.

I think that was the regular XBox DVD playback...some site found it to be subpar to even a cheapo $49 DVD player.

No, I remember reading the same thing in last months issue of EGM.

why not using VGA ?

1080P FTW

My thoughts too.

it doesn't look as good. I had another thread up just on that topic 2 weeks ago. Both on my 32" and 47" vizios watching SD dvd's from the 360 VGA looks FARRRRRRRRR better than component. However the situation is difference once i switch to HD-DVD's using the HD-DVD player, on both screens the role is reserved, it is VGA that ends up looking washed out and component with the better color. Also for some reason on my 47" which is a 1920x1080 P screen connected with VGA the 360 won't let me choose 1920x1080, when i do the TV itself gives me an error message somethign like "no timing available" and i can set it only up to 1366x768. So using both component and VGA from the 360 I have not been able to get the screen to read anythign as progressive, just interlaced 🙁
