For those who haven't noticed it, I figured I'd post about it. I read it and it's probably the funniest thing you'll read all February.

What's funny is that weightlifting used to be an almost exclusively homosexual activity a generation or so ago.

 Lies.

Are you so sure? The trend of lifting weights at pricey gyms is a recent one.

Somehow between then and now fate decided to take a steaming hot dump all over Darwin?s grave as a generation of salty war veterans gave way to a generation of scarf-wearing vaginas.

Back in the good old days things were much simpler. Back then you could walk into a café and not be totally confused. This is because back then it didn?t matter if you were trying to order, cappuccino, mocha latte or espresso they were all called the same thing ? scotch.

I don't think that's true MrChad... in a lot of movies they'd have "weights" next to the guy's sport's car in the 90s. And in the 80s it was all about jogging and being in shape.

Anyways, I just wanted to share one of my favorite lines.
Back then the game of dodgeball was played with rocks and the game of dodgerock was played with knives.
I thought that was priceless.

Belief comes with evidence.

Perhaps "generation" wasn't the right length of time. I was referring more to the pre-80s era. You're right, the trend towards fitness and going to the gym regularly really began in the 80s.

*sigh*

Price has only gone up because people are willing to pay it. Being in good shape, lifting weights, etc., has always been popular, regardless of sexual preference.

Look, don't mistake my comment for being anti-gay. I was only pointing out that many of our current "masculine" heterosexual trends (in fashion, body image, etc) stem from earlier trends in homosexual culture (just look at the "metrosexual" trends of today). To my knowledge, working out regularly and sculpting the body was more widely adopted in homosexual culture before it became popular in heterosexual culture.

My intent was more of an attack on homophobia than anything else. Sorry if I was misunderstood.
