D80 shooter here 😀

Absolutely love it to bits, it's everything the reviews said it was, and more :thumbsup:

The ergonomics and build quality are excellent, LCD is big, bright and wonderfully crisp, couldn't live without the top LCD, AF is fast and accurate, menus and controls are extremely intuitive, viewfinder is big and bright (pentaprism FTW 😀), turns on instantly, in short, it's a camera i think i'll be growing into for a very long time 🙂

Currently just got the 18-135mm Nikkor: fantastically flexible range makes it an ideal everyday lens, seems very solidly built for an all plastic number, no zoom creep, SWM is exactly that, silent, and extremely quick 🙂

Just got a cheapie Transcend 2GB 150x SD card, seems more than adequate thus far.

In the short term i think i'll be grabbing the 50mm f1.8 and Nikon Capture NX, need a tripod too 😀
 
I also shoot on the D80. The only digital lenses I own (ie ones that will work with the D80 metering) are the 18-200 VR and a Tokina 12 - 24.

I'm very pleased with the camera and lenses and I'm very happy I didn't settle for the Xti or another Canon camera. Compared to Nikon's offerings, Canons feel cheap and the control layouts make little to no sense.

i also chose the d80.

i was originally going to buy an xti - everyone i asked shoots canon and recomended it to me.

Lucky for me i went to a camera store to 'handle them' first. None of the canons that were in my budget felt right to me.

When i handled the d80, i knew it was the one for me. Even the buttons are in the perfect places!

I have the 18-135 DX (kit) lens
50mm 1.8 DX
and a kiron 70-210 (manual)

I'm kinda wishing i would have upgraded to the d200, because it will meter with more of the older lenses. However I think with some practice and research i can learn to set everything manually.

I also bought a set of close-up filters (tiffen) because i'm very interested in macro photography.

Your other option would be to buy an independent light meter. Then you could use any lenses you pleased with your D80.

The DSLR's are a bit out of my league, but I have a Nikon Coolpix 5700 and it does a good job for me. Having the option of more/better lenses would be nice however...

supposedly i can send it in and nikon will fix it for free (bad CCD), but i keep procrastinatin it
 
d70s, love the camera but wish I had waited for the next pay check and went with the d200 (not that I can really justify the extra $800, but hey do I really need $2000 in stuff anyway?)

Have a Sigma 180-500 lens, awesome for sports photography, surfing and bird and nature shots.
Thought about the 50mm, but don?t want to have to get so close to my subjects to get the type of shots I like. Maybe I?ll just save my pennies and get the 135mm f/2d instead 🙂
 
I started off with a D70 over 3 years ago. I gave it to my sister and picked up a D200 the first day it came out. Despite the rain and fog and sand and bumps and all, it still chugs along fine. The rubber is worn smooth in places and I've burned through a couple neckstraps, but I'm glad it's been able to put up with the abuse.

I'd like to see full frame and a bigger and brighter viewfinder someday, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to happen. The longer I wait though, the more tempted I am to ditch it all and go Leica (which may end up fitting my shooting style better).

It'd take me too long to go into detail on all the lenses I've owned/used, but if there's anything particular you want to know about on the list feel free to ask.
