Nikon D5000 stopped recognizing/formatting Kingston SDHC 8 gig/Class 6

I have had the Nikon D5000 for a month and has been working fine with the above SDHC card. All of a sudden the camera does not recognize the card and wants me to format it but does not work.

Nikon tech support says b/c its not an approved SDHC card that's the issue. What do you think? The SDHC card is a good brand that I have.

Can the card be read in other devices? You could try formatting the card in Windows (using FAT32 file system) and see if that works.

When I first got my Panasonic LX3, plugging the camera to the pc by USB port = 50/50 chance of working. Since then, I've ended up with a SCHD USB card reader and haven't had problems since using that.

Take the card and if you have a card reader see if it can be read by the PC. Then if it does maybe format it through windows.
