I'm looking for a good digicam with all the manual controls, excellent image quality, and well, the best bang for your buck.

I found the Coolpix 8700 for $329, and the S1 for $237

Anyone have any personal experience with either of them, or help push me either way? The image stabilization system on the S1 makes it a real contender, but the 8700 for $329 is a bargain as far as im concerned.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

the 8700 is better in just about every aspect then the S1
bigger image size

8mp and not 3mo
better shutter speed
better apature
coolpix has RAW support
bigger LCD

and for 330$ that is a steal, it retails for over 700 IIRC

look on streetprices.com

most of their digi's are damn cheap, im still skeptical as to why so cheap though..

I saw it marked on their site that what they sell may not be a US model, but does that mean anything major?

and just so you know i looked at streeprices and the 8700, and the stores that are selling it for stupidly low prices

and ALL OF THEM ARE SCAMS

buydig lists it for 597$ and anything cheaper then that is a scam

digitalliquadators, VIPcamera, amp photo ALL OF THEM ARE SCAMS

look up the reseller ratings on them all scams,

I just emailed them all inquiring about the low prices, so i'll see what i get back.

But what about ones listed as refurb? is it so odd that one of those is listed for such a low price?

Looking in the "vendor discussion" on streetprices, AMphotoworld got some pretty horrible reviews, so i guess its not legit.
