The rebate form has a column asking "Dealer purchased from----------", after seeing that i did called Nikon and they say Officemax is not listed as their dealer for Nikon Collpix 2500. Then the CSR told me that if I buy this digital camera from OM then I am not eligible for rebate. Please share your thoughts and findings.

Thanks

I asked OM for a pricematch and they approved it to ritz, but factored in shipping, so it was $225-30 coupon -$50 rebate. Pretty much the same as ritz, why hassle??

I called staples a few times and they said the CF card their's comes with is 16 MB and the ones at ritz is 8MB, so they are not the same, no PM. Apparently they plug ritz into a PM computer and get that answer. So they weren't budging.

But amazon wasn't in the computer 😀 😀

A supervisor DID approve a PM to amazon. Even though it's sub-offered by ritz. ok with me. comes to $123 after rebate.
I already have this camera and am getting this for someone else.

Does anyone know the limit on the # of rebates? Can I get 2 on the 2500? I emailed Nikon but they haven't answered yet.

Good deal stingygrrl!!! So this deal is from staples? .com or B&M

Damn ! I can't find this deal on staples anymore! Is it pulled? can it still be ordered of the phone

I called them couple of days back and they don't have any of them in stock and asked me to call back later.

199.00 Officemax pm is fine but will they let you keep the coupon and what will they hit you for shipping?

Not certain whom you spoke with, but I contacted Nikon USA (contact information found here), and spoke with several people there regarding this. The rebate in question is valid for the 2500 purchased at any store, regardless of their authorized status or not (if you check this thread thoroughly, you will see that Staples itself, the original place of purchase associated with this deal is not an authorized dealer). However, "E2500(U)" must be listed in the UPC on the box. This means that the camera was manufactured for sale in the United States, and it is this fact (and not the "purchased from an authorized dealer" clause) or lack thereof that will void your rebate eligibility.

I purchased this camera from Staples via telephone order back on the 6th, then called back later and was approved for a pricematch to the $199.99 from Ritz. On the 8th, the date the item was scheduled for delivery, I received a called from Staples customer service stating that my order was temporarily cancelled as they disallowed the pricematch to Ritz (for a similar reason as listed above - different manufacturer's model numbers, one with 8Mb v one with 16Mb). Was stunned to say the least, as I have done in the neighborhood of ~25 pricematches at Staples.

299.98 Nikon Coolpix 2500 @ OM
PM to Ritz Camera so 115%
Add 30 online coupon for over 150

298 - 99 (PM) - 30 (Coupon) - 15% for PM put me at 154.15 plus some tax in my state

so all in all I cam out at 164.94 but add that 50$ Rebate and it'll be 114.94!

Yes, the next logical course of action was to attempt this at OfficeMax, which I tried on the scale of five times. Each time, I was met with the same answer - OfficeMax does not pricematch on special order items, which the CoolPix 2500 is from their website (you'll see the OfficeMax website lists "Expected Delivery : 3-7 Business Days". this is why) or by phone/catalogue. Am assuming you attempted this B&M? I looked when in the one OfficeMax B&M in my area that week, and as this model has been discontinued it was OOS, as was nearly every other digital camera. Checked Staples B&M as well, which was also OOS. Instead purchased an Olympus D560 (3.2MP, 3x optical/3.4 digital) at Staples B&M, which was $299.99 - $30 off $150 printable B&M coupon - 110% Pricematch to $249.99 (Data Vision on 5th Ave) ~ $215+tax.

I would, however, still purchase this camera if an appropriate working deal was available. I plan to check an out of town Target I will be near tomorrow, as these had/have been on clearance in most locations. As others have listed above, any help or opinions are always welcome.

ok, I hope this addresses some of the issues raised above:
1) the staples item number is IM1191161
2) NICKel, I ordered at staples.com and applied a coupon for $30 off that they had emailed me (for once I didn't have to use google 😀 )
2a) When I ordered it yesterday, it wasn't on the website but was avail by phone for 4 day delivery. it still says processing not shipped, so we'll see what happens. Worth a try to call them.
3) arkay9, I had bought a 4500 at om.com back when they were doing a crazy PM making it $120 after rebates 😀😀, and cashed that rebate check a long time ago, so the rebate should be ok, but if you want to email them at digitalimaging@nikonincmail.com and have it in writing, that would probably be prudent
4) arkay9, they told me 2 days back it wasn't avail but yesterday a supervisor put the order in. So I don't know what that means.
5) om.com ok'd a PM to ritzcamera.com but added shipping, making it $225, hardly a deal. subtract the $30 coupon and it's basically ritz' price. they sent me an email approval after I sent in a request via the website. got that a couple days ago, submitted it monday.
6) I wouldn't drive to Target just to look for this bec it was on clearance in May and most likely cleaned out, but if you are there anyway, it doesn't hurt to check it out.
7) all my attempts have been thru the respective stores' .com sites, never B&M
8) good luck all!! 😀

Best I could do at staples is PM to 199 but since they have the new coupon system I dont have a code for them so I cant get anymore off until they send me a new email with a 16 digit in it.

Did get a call back from CSR and had to alter the price due to ritz shipping so deal looks like this on my end (this is straight out of the email I just got)

Their price: $ 199.99
Their delivery charge: $ 14.95
Their total price: $ 214.94

Our price: $ 299.98
Our next day delivery: $ 0
Our total price: $ 299.98

Difference: $ 85.05

Price after credit is: $ 214.94

The order must be placed through OfficeMax.com to be eligible for this
pricematch.

So 214.94 - 30 coupon and 50 rebate when it comes in.Not as good as thought but still good for a nice camera.Thats the best deal I can come up with after checking just about everyone.

Just got my camera form officemax... tried to PM AMAZON... (should have said ritz camera) Not only was I denied but the CSR was very rude about.... I will try one more time and then I just return it.

You can fill in the info at this Link. Once it is approved you will receive an email with subject "approved - Price match request". I will return the camera.

Here are the confirmed pricematch details.I did fill in ritzcamera as Competitor's Name.
Their price: $199.99
Their delivery charge: $ 24.95
Their total price: $224.94

Our price: $299.98
Less Coupon: $30.00
Our next day delivery: $ 0
Our total price: $269.98

Difference: $45.04

You need to add tax to total amount.Final Amount=269.98-45.04+Tax=$245(Approximately)

Anyone have this who can comment on the photo quality. Also interested in knowing how well it shoots in low light conditions.

Thnx.

No-go for coupons. Just tried over the phone. They said the item was being shipped from another vendor and also a coupon cannot be applied to an order with a pricematch... sighz.. 😛

Why not just get the Canon A300 from OM for $199? 3.0MP and no PM/Rebate hassles.

A300 is significantly weaker in the photo quality from the Coolpix 2500....

I think i could have PMed easily - and get it for 199 + tax with no shipping ... but i hoped for a better deal since I won't be around here to collect the rebate 😛

Cyber, read it up at dpreview.com. They did a review on the camera and it looks pretty good for a low budget camera. I have been searching (*screams) for a good camera off ebay since 5 - 6 hours ago and also reading reviews... 2500 seems to be quite a good bet. I liked Nikon 885 but it's a totally different level...

Yes I use the old Canon G2 that I have never even thought about replacing. It will have to die a horable death before I let it go.

I called staples and got the Price Match to work! I called and talked to the lady on the phone..
She first asked me if I knew my customer # and all that good stuff. Then I gave her the item # listed above in the post, she verified if the if it was the correct item. The Nikon Coolpix 2500 and I said yes maam that is correct.. and she said is this all.. and i reply, yes it is.. but I would like to price match.

So I told her I would like to pricematch with Amazon.com, she said made me hold for about 2 minutes and said pricematch was no problem.

But I couldn't find any $30 off coupon.. but I did manage to get the free black and white TV w/ $150 purchase.

The total price was: $206.81

for the Nikon CoolPix 2500 with a free black and white TV with free shipping!

Tried again to PM from OM to Ritz camera ..... I guess it was my lucky day ! Tallked to a very nice fellow and he said they would credit 100.00 back to me!!! Nice... I will have to check this out in week or so... but I am thrilled.
