Ritz camera has it for $200 before Nikon $50 rebate here. Staples has it for $280 before the same rebate (item IM1191161). After PM and $30 coupon, you can get it for at least $112 + taxes on price before rebate. If you manage to pricematch to price after rebate, even better.

I have this camera, I paid $289 for it back around christmas. It's a great camera for the amateur photographer, it's really simple to use, and it can take movies, so it's a pretty good investment if you want to get into digital cameras.

Link to Nikon Coolpix 2500 at Staples, for the indolent surfers.

Appears Staples.com lists the rebate that has already expired (6/30); however, the ritzcamera.com link listed above has the correctly adjusted rebate form (purchase period April 1, 2003 through September 30, 2003).

Review for the 2500 found here.

Called Staples CSR and they told me that Staples is no longer PMing after rebate prices. When did this happen?? Anyway, great deal on the camera, on the phone right now trying to get them to PM. They said they have to call corporate cause its such a large amount. I think I'll really piss off the CSR when I try to use a coupon.

Edit: Apparently I'll get a call back tomorrow to find out if the PM goes through. CSR said that they 'are not sure if Ritz is an authorized reseller', which is total BS.

Ritz is authorized dealer.

tell the CSR to go to LINKY
put in category, zip etc and Ritz (if there's one in your area) shows up as 'where to buy'. If it doesnt show up for your zip, use zip code 902 (10) and as you see several Ritz locations pop right up.

That's hilarious - it's a national camera store and they have the nerve to use the excuse of it "not being an authorized dealer." lame...

They refused my order - the Ritz camera number / Nikon code and the Staples camera code / number are different, so they believe there is some difference among the two cameras. If anyone successfully gets it, post!

dcorn :- same here. The CSR called to say that the nos are different... I gave her a piece of my mind about what i thought about the jerks at staples corporate!

WTF do they even have a PM policy if they cant maintain that? They should learn from Amazon... if you cant afford to have a policy - remove it. atleast you dont piss people off with gimmicks

I didn't have truble with the pricematch (I didn't try to PM the after-rebate price). This thing about authorized dealers is total BS, in fact Nikon doesn't list Staples as an authorized dealer. You may want to point that to their CSR.

What's your order number, fornax? I'd like to call and match that price you got - they wouldn't go near $199 (didn't even try for $150).

I just called Staples (its 12:30 AM here) and pricematched with absolutely no problem. The CSR seemed really uninterested, or maybe he was just bored - it was so much better than this afternoon (see above). He didn't even bother checking the price on the Ritz website, just asked me how much it was, and he took the $30 off with no comment and no problem. No mention of Staples corporate or items numbers or authorized resellers. I'm definitely calling at night on future price matches.

Is the $50 rebate valid if purchased from staples?

Edit: I just checked the staples rebate form and its exactly the same as the one on the ritz site, only the valid date is different.

dcorn: I prefer not to, sorry.

outofgum: even though Staples is not listed on Nikon's list of dealers, I didn't have problem with their rebates for the Coolpix 2000 from a few month ago. I bought from Staples and downloaded the rebate form from Nikon's web site, got all my rebates.

Hey the rebate at Nikonusa.com says " To be eligible, product must have either a ?E2000(U)?, ?E2500(U)?, ?E3500(U)?, ?E4500(U)?, ?E5000(U)? or ?E5700(U)? legend included in the UPC code label on the Nikon product box. Products with a different legend, or without a legend, in the UPC code label on the Nikon product box are not eligible for rebate. "

Does anyone knows if they all have that legend or what are the ones that staples sells ?

I may go with this one, but I'm still waiting for a nice deal in the 3.0 range.

I called and the CSR was very helpful, didn't even question me about the pricematch. However I can't find any coupon you guys are talking about. Wondering if maybe someone could point my in the right direction? I checked the paper, and online, couldn't find anything.

Also I'm wondering if anyone is getting them to PM after the rebate? Or are you guys PMing to 200 from ritz and then using the coupon to get 170 + tax and mailing in the 50 dollar rebate?

Thanks again, man this is hot. I've been looking for a deal on this cam for a while now.

I've noticed that just about every Staples CSR has their own intrepretation of Staples price match policy. Basically, if the CSR that you are talking to tells you what you don't want to hear, hang up and call back to talk to another CSR.

i'm looking on the staples website and when i search for "nikon 2500 coolpix" i'm getting all the other coolpixes, but not the 2500.
does that mean it's sold out already or is that just for my zipcode that i entered...?

anyone with ideas? thanks

I just got Ritz Camera's ad for their B&M which shows this camera on the front page for $199-50(rebate) = $149

so you might want to try Staples B&M if you have a nearby Ritz, this way Staples can't charge you shipping either.

sooo:

$280
- 89.10 (110% pricematch to $199)
---------
$ 190.90
- 30.00 ( $30 off $150 coupon)
----------
160.90
- 50.00 (rebate)
---------
= 110.90 + tax

if you get a pricematch after rebate, then even better, but YMMV on that.

Good luck, I'm gonna try tomorrow I think staples is closed now :(

Been looking for one a while and tried the staples thing with no luck not in stock anywhere but checked out OM and they had it so pretty much did the same thing with them.

299.98 Nikon Coolpix 2500 @ OM
PM to Ritz Camera so 115%
Add 30 online coupon for over 150

298 - 99 (PM) - 30 (Coupon) - 15% for PM put me at 154.15 plus some tax in my state

so all in all I cam out at 164.94 but add that 50$ Rebate and it'll be 114.94!

Went to my local store and they only had the display model so went online and they did have it.So called 1st and had the CSR check everything out Ritz is a valid PM company and the camera was the same one so she told me to place the order online and they have a PM matching form online you can fill out.So did all that and took 24 hours for them to send me an email back BUT they never charged my card to start with so didnt even have to worry about the initial charge that was NOT PM'd.CSR I spoke with was Candy and she seemed to have done this one b4 b/c she knew the Ritz price was 199 before I said what it was.

I asked OM for a pricematch and they approved it to ritz, but factored in shipping, so it was $225-30 coupon -$50 rebate. Pretty much the same as ritz, why hassle??

I called staples a few times and they said the CF card their's comes with is 16 MB and the ones at ritz is 8MB, so they are not the same, no PM. Apparently they plug ritz into a PM computer and get that answer. So they weren't budging.

But amazon wasn't in the computer :D :D

A supervisor DID approve a PM to amazon. Even though it's sub-offered by ritz. ok with me. comes to $123 after rebate.
I already have this camera and am getting this for someone else.

Does anyone know the limit on the # of rebates? Can I get 2 on the 2500? I emailed Nikon but they haven't answered yet.
