NIkkon D70 flash issues

Hi all,

Just got a used D70 from a coworker and it seems like a great camera for how little it cost; that said, I'm having issues with the built in flash (I know, I need to buy a proper flash, and I plan to) - in auto mode, the flash works fine. If I go into program, aperture, manual or speed modes though, the flash fires too soon. I see the flash go off, then the shutter goes, leaving images dark.

Now, I assume that since auto mode works great, I'm missing a setting somewhere, but I'm at a loss as to what I'm missing - any ideas?

Sounds like your flash is set to commander mode.

Bottom of page 94 in your D70 manual, change it back to TTL.

If this doesn't work maybe try a full factory reset.
