NIKKI HALEY: Biden is too old. We need term limits

We already have constitutionally set terms for the President (two terms, 22nd Amendment). The Constitution already sets a minimum age to become President (35 years, Art II, Section 1). The Constitution does not set a maximum age for any elected office. The Constitution provides a mechanism if the President becomes incompetent and is unable to perform his duties. Seems to me all the bases are covered.

Even with this bizarre clearly partisan Supreme Court I don't see the Court ever upholding a law barring someone from Presidency when she/he is constitutionally qualified. That goes beyond even the legislative powers this Court is so willing to co-opt as their own.

Nimarata Nikki Haley, like the others, have become desperate. Desperate for attention so at this point they will say anything. You think any of them would actually follow thru as president to enact term limits? Hasn't happened yet.

Honestly I’m all for it, most employers have age limits as in many of the posters on this board cannot simply stay at their job into their 80s or 90s. Shit McConnel appears to be having problems and what’s her name may not be capable of following along to vote without assistance.
Hey if it’s good for me to be told I am too old to work it should be good for Representatives, Senators and President.
 
For the fact that Trump of all people is the Republican's go-to guy to scam their way into the White House (again?) says everything anyone would want to know about the current state of affairs that party is in. You know their guy, he's the jackass that created a new language where no matter what he says the universal interpretation of it is "I'm Lying to You Suckers".

That bullshit artist who thinks that he can cheat and lie his way through life is tailor-made for a party that operates exactly the same way. And that party is financed by those pillars of industry whose motto is "What's in it for me sucks for thee". You all know that battle cry of theirs to "Make America Great Again" is overflowing with racist sentiments and religious fundamentalist activism that's meant to divide America and absolutely not to unite it.

Not the kind of America that the other democracies of the world would look up to as "a shining example and role model to emulate" is it?

I donno, seems to be working pretty well for them.
They got the Supreme Court locked down
They have appointed far more Judges
They’ve gotten multiple tax cuts done for wealthy people
They’ve had laws they don’t like neutered and effectively repealed

Seems to be playing the game a lot better imo.

I think the GOP is good at ramming their favored legislation through when they have majorities because they're willing to go much farther toward cheating the system to pass their unpopular policies than the Democrats are willing to go, have no problems with lying, deceiving, misrepresenting, being blatant hypocrites and perping all manner of chicanery in order to force their will on the majority of the nation. Stuff like McConnell refusing to allow Obama's pick to the SCOTUS still rings fresh in my mind.

Still, all of the cases of political malfeasance that the Republicans have piled up to the rafters in their house of cards are bound to come back at them in very nasty ways. Those 1/6er's getting jailed, many of Trump's close associates getting prison sentences and now Trump being twice impeached and multi-indicted is just the tip of the iceberg as far as what the Republicans are going to get bitch-slapped with down the road.

edit - with all of those major hits to his credibility that any one of which would have spelt career enders for most other politicians, it defies the boundaries of logic and common sense how Trump can still be the GOP's front runner, but then looking at his competition it really doesn't say much about the pedigree of those other racist liars and cheats running against him.

Sounds like not only a dig at Biden but a dig at trump. She knows she can’t really say anything bad about trump so she says something bad about someone else that would also apply to trump.

Either way, she irrelevant to the 24 presidential race.

They've also just got a lot of built-in advantages. Not surprising when they represent the interests of historically more privileged groups. Many of those advantages have been built-in to the system since its inception (while some are just accidents where they got lucky, like the effect of changes in the relative population numbers of states)
 
The entire political class is too old, though. Age-limits (which I assume is what was meant rather than 'term limits') probably aren't the answer though. Need to ask why that one generation have hung on and dominated things for so long, and why it takes so long for anyone to get to the point of being a challenger for high office now - either fix that, or increase people's _healthy_ lifespan as well as raw longevity, so future gerontocrats aren't so frail and doddery.

Same here. But Biden is the best option on the table (that has a chance of winning, which rules out any 3rd party) IMO and it isn't close so he'll get my vote.
