Nightwish - Nemo

I could wall Nightwish inconsistent, but I've bought several of their albums because the high points are so good. Ghost Love Score (track 9 on the same album as Nemo) is an absolute masterpiece.

Sample some Lacuna Coil for a similar sound.

Welcome to 2004, friend! Man, these are exciting times we live in - The US dollar is as strong as ever, house prices are going up steadily so housing is a sure fire investment and those financial whizzes at Bear Stearns have new investment vehicles like derivatives that spread risk and have very strong returns, check them out!

Anyway, I like a lot of the songs from Angels Fall First, Oceanborn and Wishmaster. Just download the albums and see what you like...

While you're at it check out Within Temptation, and Leave's Eyes. They aren't exactly the same as LC and NW, but very similar (same genre of music symphonic metal).

For a male lead (with some female backups) in that genre, check out Kamelot. They are more of a metal band, but have some great tracks (their newest album Ghost Opera is quite good IMO)

Listen to everything they've ever done. They're my favorite band right now- I saw them in Orangevale last week. One of the better shows I've been to- they're used to playing stadiums in Europe, and it was this tiny club in the middle of nowhere. 🙂

Man this song rocks! [pumps fist]

Got any other Nightwish song recommendations in this same vein?

Their whole discography is pretty good.

Fixed

All except their newest one, because they fired their singer and the new one isn't nearly as good as the old one.

Within Temptation and Epica are also awesome bands of the same style.

Well, they reformed with a new lead singer. Is she doing the band's older material, (if so, how does it sound?) or only new stuff that was written since she joined?

I'll check out the Wikipedia list... I would love some specific recomendations, since the things that Amazon claims are "similar to what I've bought" are all horrible. Needs more feeling and less screaming. I see the list calls them "power" metal. I'm guessing what I like is the non-"power" tracks.

edit:
Starting with Therion, Kamelot, and Epica after following a bunch of Wiki links all over the place. 🙂

The new singer has a decent voice but she doesn't sound like an opera singer, which I though was what made Nightwish such a Unique and awsome band.

Try the concert album "End of an Era" - it has lots of good ones. Also, their new album is more along the lines of this song though the lead singer is different. I didn't like a lot of their older stuff and definitely not Epica or others that just scream a lot and growl (Lacuna Coil... )

EDIT: after watching the movie I can say the concert version is much better...

i have never heard of them before, I am digging their music, i sat and litened to several on utube, something new to add to my ipod

I thought End of an Era was a compilation of previous albums...

Lacuna Coil does some great stuff. The male backup vocalist just needs some duct tape for the mouth; he ruins songs that would have been excellent if he'd just let the woman do her thing.

I thought this was going to be a song about Nemo from 'Finding Nemo' 🙁

In all seriousness it's a pretty good song. I don't listen to a lot of Nightwish but it's quality music
