Nightmare Scenario -- <<<HELP!>>>

Guys, to cut to the chase:

New 8800GT came in. Saw the new bios; flashed. Said it erased the rom image.
Nothing happened...

So i ran the app again same shiz...

Then I ran it again and it simply stayed open for 2 secs.

Reboot -- NOTHING.

I hooked up my 6200TC (ughhh) so that's why I can type this up.

Help!

Im on Vista x64, BTW.

Must have flashed it incorrectly or the file/cd/floppy you made was corrupt. Your only chance it to flash it blind. Although not sure if that's possible.

I have the 8800GT AND the 6200 in @ the same time since my mobo has 2x PCIE -- I don't think blind flashing will be necessary. BTW, this was done inside Vista since the bios came in an evga EXE.

Can anyone make a dump of their evga 8800GT SC and share it, please?

that's the new bios that's supposed to fix the fan speed error? AMD has one of those bios updates, too, but reading this makes me happy that I haven't used it. I've just been forcing the fan to 53% with rivatuner. It's amazing how much quieter this thing is than my 1950xt was. that 1950xt fan at 53% was louder than my wife when she's "asking" me to change the baby's diaper. In the middle of major battle...in multiplayer...uh, let's just say that it was very loud and the 3870 isn't, shall we?

Umm...can you at least say something that can help me? 😀

What's a good x64 bios flashing tool? I got ahold of a bios rom.

I've always used nvflash, keep a 1.44 floppy installed just for that reason. No floppy drive?

The latest available winflash does not support G92 boards. The EVGA .exe has a new version but it's not publicly available.

Your best bet is to flash blind. Read this post, it's for a notebook but works in any machine with an nvidia card>> post
except the referenced flash utility is old so get this one nvflash 5.57 for DOS, works with 8800GT. Pay particular attention to the nvflash - fully automated setup part. Just choose your boot device, read up and get crackin. A flash drive will be the easiest.

this is the key command for your autoexec.bat file: nvflash -4 -5 -6 -A -y [romname].rom

Have you ever messed with flashing with multiple GPU's present? I suggest you remove the 6200. Was it there when u first flashed?

Sorry. I had a problem when I installed my 3870 so I can sympathize. Fortunately, mine was just a faulty ram stick that only took 10 days to diagnose/replace...🙁

A usb drive would be much easier than making the bootable cd. either that or swipe a floppy from another computer temporarily.

ooh, nice guide. My bad, I forgot he's blind right now. Yep, blind flash...

Yeah, I use that site for everything since I have a nice gaming laptop in addition to the desktop. Flashing is king for Dell laptop upgrades.

BTW, fixed link above.

OMG I had to sign up to get some of those files so I did and I STILL haven't gotten the confirmation email...when it rains it really pours 🙁

Can you please upload the files -- namely the 'these dos files'? Please?
&^#$ I can't go to sleep in peace until I can resolve this ordeal.

THE NIGHT IS OVER!

Thanks stapuft! You made my week! I got it all working now thanks to you

:heart::heart::heart::heart:

::goes to try out DX10 games::

Excellent work. Have fun.

OH, yeah, I sent you the EVGA SC (650/1900) v1.1 fixed fan BIOS in .rom format if u want to fix that fan right! You can repeat the DOS boot process except do it unblind (no autoexec, just nvflash evga1p1.rom and follow prompts).

Good nite.

Great work you guys, way to help out a veteran member.....

Only reason I stay a member of this forum is because of people like you guys being on here.
