Combined cycle. I'm done with zoomies. The money is good but the job is boring as hell. Combined cycle is where it's at. :)

I can't argue with anything you just said. Another plus: these plants are so easy to run. Plus the maintenance is almost insignificant.

I can't argue with anything you just said. Another plus: these plants are so easy to run. Plus the maintenance is almost insignificant.

Probably why the power industry built so many in the last 10years. :D

How fast do they spool up anyway? IIRC, thy're primarily used as peaking units.

Yeah, not to mention the low staffing costs. This is an 820MW facility and there are only 29 people employed here.

We're mostly a baseloaded facility but we're on AGC and we can ramp up really fast. I'm new so I don't know the max ramp rate yet, but I do know that we can go from a cold plant to fully loaded with the duct burners on in a few hours. Try that a nuke or coal plant... :Q
