I bought my z-560s for $140 when I was a senior in high school. Over 3 years later I sold them to a friend for $100. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Hey... too much "best purchases" remarks, synth will figure out we're logitech salesmen. I almost have him fooled into thinking I hate them.

Now, on to the real question: what center channel should I get?

Options:
#1. get another SV-6 bookshelf speaker to replace it
#2. wait until Fluance comes out with their SV-Center they have planned for this year sometime
#3. do option #1 for now and then do option #2 when ready and get another SV-6 and move them to rear duty
#4. get a center from a speaker set that I eventually would like to own mmmmmm, Ascend Acoustics 340

OMG TEH Z-5500'S OMG

/runs away

hehe... I guess I could get a while z-5500 set for the price of that one speaker ;)

;)

Honestly, that speaker talk means nothing to me. :p I still do consider the Z-5500's and such relatively high end, or at least as high end as I'll need for quite a long time. ;)

/continues running away?

hehe. The one of the onkyo HTIB is rather tempting to me. Of course I don't reall want to spend more than $300, so I probably can't really surpass my old z-560s :(

Well, if you do decide to go for it, feel free to send me your "old" Z-560's. ;)

Haha. I love these. I actually got them last year, for $70 as refurbs from overstock.com. One of the best purchases I've made in years. My previous 4.1's died and they were tiny compared to these. They have whet my appetite for good speakers tho'.

That's cool.

You guys (especially YOyo) are gonna punish me for this :)lips: ), but I have the lowly Z-640's...but they work well enough for my purposes, plus I don't even get to use them all that often right now..

I had my previous set from the year 2000 to 2004. They had a good run too. They were pretty badass for computer speakers at the time (creative fps-2000's)

Whatever synth... expensive speakers (and I mean that to mean anything over $50) aren't for everyone. I realize that some people simply don't care.

I only get irritated by it when I see someone spec-ing out a rig in GH that's over $2000 and they have x-230s in the list.... or when somebody I know is listening loudly to some sh!tty laptop speakers.

Oh, and you're in trouble So if the logitechs have started you on the speaker ladder. They certainly did it for me.

For about a year I was thinking that I should get some promedias but then I found out that you could hook up some real stuff :) 2 years after that and I was on my way. Almost exactly a year after I ordered my SX-HTBs and I'm about $2400 poorer :Q

Well, to be fair, a good friend of mine has some $2500 set of speakers that his dad (who works at some high-end electronics/home theater shop in San Antonio) bought him for his 18th birthday...those are freaking sweet. But at the same time, I spent less than that on my car...

My Z-640's work for me right now, although I can obviously tell they're "budget" speakers, I suppose you could say. I have no doubt that one day I'll put together a nice speaker system, but right now...meh
