Phuz, you must not be keeping up with things. Pencils certainly do not work to unlock XP's. They have pits burned between the L1's.

All you need is a Crayola to cover the grouve and then join the bridges. No need to buy kits.

I use Gaco liquid neoprene (air hardening) myself.

It isn't too terribly difficult to unlock XPs. A lot of people get a bit paranoid because of how small the L1 area is. Just tape off each bridge, and work slowly and diligently. Mistakes can be wiped away, so don't get too excited.

That little kit looks nice, but if you've already got some super glue and conductive paint or lacquer laying around (as well as a bobby pin or sewing needle, and some scotch tape) there's little point in dropping $16 for it. 🙂
