I've been smoking for nearly a year now. I usually end up doing about half a pack a day.

Right now I'm away on a small family gathering, and I don't want to smoke in order not to draw attention to myself. I thought this would be freaking hard, but it's day three and I don't feel any cravings or withdrawal symptoms.

Am I not addicted yet? Or am I just weird?

Be grateful and take this as your opportunity to quit. Stopping smoking is by far the single most important change you could make to your life to increase life expectancy, not to mention your family will like you more and non-smokers will be more likely to socialize with you on account of you not smelling like an old cigarette.

But yeah, for some people stopping is easier than others. My Dad quit by chewing gum for 3 weeks, and he said he didn't feel any withdrawal or anything. Whereas some people have real trouble quitting, a few hours without a smoke and they start feeling withdrawal.

Do yourself a favor and just keep on going. If it's going this easy you should take advantage of it.

Just stop. Smoking is the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life and I still am struggling to quit. Stop before it really becomes hard. I've had drug addictions in the past that I managed to beat but I still can't quit smoking cigarettes...

Keep going, but the desire could kick in at any time. Even months from now you could suddenly find yourself jonesing.

Take it from me, STOP. Please.

I smoked for over 20 years. Stopping was the hardest thing I ever had to do.
It took a cancer to get me to stop.

Stop while you're ahead

i was at about the same point and i quit cold turkey with no problem, been 24 years and i don't even consider it anymore

i think most people that have major trouble quitting are heavier smokers or longer at it

what he said. Quit now before you are really hooked. I wish I had quit before when it was easier. You will get much more dependent and addicted if you continue to smoke. Listen to us and don't smoke anymore. It is a real bytch to quit later on.

For added incentive, take the ~$3/day you're spending on your half-pack of cigarettes and just burn it. Light it on fire and just watch it burn. Because that's basically what you're doing anyway.

I would encourage you to continue smoking in moderation.

That website is laughable, you may want to go look up what "confirmation bias" is.

Cherry picking a few benefits while ignoring a massive amount of data showing the detriments is ridiculous. If you want to try and justify your habit to yourself go ahead but please keep your bad science to yourself.

Smoking is cool and chicks will think you a rebel and wish to copulate with you.
