Nickelodeon to air special on gay parents despite protests

That's because Nick is owned by the same corporation that own MTV. It starts with a "V"..... can't .... think... of .... it...*gasp*.

If people don't like it, don't watch it. Personally, I don't know who would watch it, the topic seems quite boring if you ask me. But, I can't stand these groups who try and censor everything because it offends them. Sooner or later, if they succeed now, they'll succeed in getting something I actually want to watch off the air.

Nickdlodeon isnt that right channel to air this stuff on. The only reason its even going to be on Nickelodeon is one of its high ranking execs is uhh with Rosie O'Donnel.

good for them. i mean the "despite protests" part. it's nice to see a company grow some balls and ignore whiney protestors. god i hate protestors (of any kind).

WTF. If I had that in my cable selection, I would remove that channel from my lineup. Looks like I won't be supporting that or Disney anymore either.

In the Homoadoption thread, people against it were screaming "The poor kids will be made fun of in school." Well, maybe a show like this can curb some of that by spreading a bit of understanding.

Yeah. ffm's right. We should just hate these people rather than understand their situation.

So would you remove it because you hate gay people?

*shrugs* maybe he's just repressed 😉 - they tend to have the least amount of understanding about gays.

Nice thought but highly doubtful. In spite of all the anti drug and anti violence programming on TV, our children are still doing drugs and shooting at each other. That's because they are children and they do childish things. A single Nick At Nite show will NOT change the nature of children. I have no doubt that gays/lesbians can be effective parents, but the force feeding of their "cause" is more offensive than the cause itself. The show that needs airing is one that promotes families with two parents gay or straight.

What exactly are they protesting? "We have the right to not bother monitoring what our children watch on TV because we're lazy ignorant pukes who think the second homosexuality is mentioned our kids are going to be pick that lifestyle!"?

1. Monitoring what your kids watch is your own responsibility. And anyway. don't child-proof the world, world-proof the child.
2. I sincerely doubt this special is going to declare homosexuality the best thing EVER so what's the harm about *gasp* learning about people different than you?

I really don't believe gays should be allowed to raise kids - or get married for that matter. And I won't believe they should until gay people stay gay and straight people stay straight - otherwise I just don't believe it.

And for Nick airing that propaganda, that is terrible. Nick has grown in reputation to be second only to PBS and Sesame Street. It is terrible that they are going to try using that to their advantage to influence young kids on a matter when most don't even know what sex is by that age. I think it's awful.

But, then again, I think Nick should be allowed to air whatever the hell they want - and parents should be responsible to keep their kids from watching it.

Actually, that's the "correct" answer, which is exactly what I say in the previous thread. If you don't like it or don't agree, turn it off. Make the decision for yourself and allow others to do the same. Protesting to have the show pulled from everyone because you disagree is tantamount to admitting that your own viewpoint is untenable and the only way to push your version of the truth is to silence others.

If people don't like it, they won't watch it. If advertisers don't like it, they'll pull their support.

Until that happens, you know what to do when you can't put up.

That's not what ffm is saying, though. He'd have the entire channel removed from his cable lineup because they aired a show about gay people. He apparently hates gay people.

I actually agree on all those counts, brxndxn. But I think that with the age that kids become aware of sex and their own sexuality gets younger and younger, homosexuality is not going to be as new a concept to them as it would have been to your or my generation. At least this way they're informed about the other side.
