how the hell do all of you know about UA football, lmfao, is it that popular? or do you all just keep up on all college sports?

I'm a UA grad, love college football, and prior to this year I went to just about all the Alabama home games.

cool! what yr u grad and what major (if you dont mind my asking)

1998 in MIS/CS.

hell yah...i'm undergrad for MIS right now :) supposedly our MIS program is in the top 3 in the nation >.> 100% job placement...avg. salary 50k :D!

Professor Sharpe has been my favorite teacher throughout all my years of school. He just rocked so much more than any other professor that I've ever had.

cool, i will have him this comming semester for mis295...should be good...and challenging

You will definitely be challenged....but, for me at least, it wasn't the sucky kind of challenge. I truly enjoyed his classes and learned alot.

Definitely get involved like xchangx mentioned. Join the MIS groups, etc. You'll be much better off for the experience.

One thing I found out was that things are very political. Make friends with peers further along, they can help out with your projects.

When you're in 320 remember to put comments in your code and never send the code to DHale to look at (if he's teaching that class anymore). He will bring it up in class for everyone to see what NOT to do.

Also, I'm not sure if they have Halo tournaments anymore but we used to have them nightly at AIME, plus movies on the big projector was pretty cool. One of my projects was to install the sound system for the projector. Pretty sweet

badass! i'm stoked/been stoked about the program since day 1

after reviewing him on wiki...i approve...looks like he did good at LSU....oh well...UA football is cool and all, but i only care about good season bcuz the tickets bring in more $$...that and maybe we can smash that tight five finger grip auburn has on our nuggets

You guys(UA alums & boosters) will run him off in 4-5 years. Alabama's problems are deeper than just a head coach. I hope he does well, I'm tired of beating an Alabama team that would have problems against Hoover High. A stronger Alabama program = stronger overall SEC, I just don't think Saban is the answer.

shows how much i know about football, lol. our quarterback and some other players came from hoover high hehe...i grew up across town from there (oak mtn) ...funny how it is all popular now because of MTV...

well, the ONLY thing i know about shula's coaching was the guy was a scardy cat. anytime we had the ball, even if we were 1yd away from another 1st down (on 4th) he could kick...wtf? run for one damn yard...i know that much from madden, lol.

Check his profile, he lives in Bham so he probably knew Hoover before the TV show. You've already proved you don't know college fball and don't care about bammer fball unless they win.

who's profile? wtf are you talking about, i stated previously i know nothing about football and i only care if they do good because i get more $$ for my tix...well...its cool when we win because spirits are high...high spirits= mo $$, lol...so wtf is ur point?

Gotta love the fairweather fan. Those tix haven't been worth much in a long time!

yah no shat...my first sem i sold my entire package for well over 600...
last year we hosted auburn and i STILL only got like 400 :/...BS..oh well...only pay 35 bucks for the whole set anyways >.>

If Saban's really getting a $40 million deal, expect your ticket prices to go way up.

pft...i doubt the tik prices will go up..well student tik...but i'm sure my freaking tution or somehting else will >( i hate the way UA spends all of its $$ on sports and not enough on everything else...LIKE PARKING!!!!

Its already been mentioned several times that Saban's salary will be paid through boosters and donations. It doesn't sound like the Athletic Dept will be paying the full salary.

Also, Huizenga just said in a press conference that the contract is not as large as reported.

Interesting - word is getting out that Saban's plane will arrive in Tuscaloosa sometime around 3:30PM CST and Bama fans are being invited to come and greet him.

ESPN is supposed to have a press conference sometime around 4PM CST.

<Lumberg Voice> Yeeeahh... Im gonna have to disagree with you on this one</Lumberg Voice>.

Saban will not put up with boosters and other people (AD included) meddling with the program. I agree, Alabama has a problem with too many people with their hands in the pot. He demands full control of the program, or else, which is what Alabama needs right now.

Shula did not have the backbone to stand up to people and enforce discipline on his players. On the news this morning they said after a game (can't remember which one they said now) Shula was doing his post-game address to his players in the locker room and one of the players was eating chicken out of a bucket while coach was speaking. If that were to happen while Saban is speaking to his players, he would shove that bucket up the players arse. When he was at LSU I always referred to him as Coach Satan because he was a man you feared, not because he won a national championship but his demeanor on the field and the way he struck fear and respect in his players.

I still think that the Shula hire was to mend the black eye that Alabama got with the whole Fran/Price situation. IMO two years from now Alabama will be back on track in the hunt for the SEC championship. The Iron Bowl will be the determining factor of who goes to the championship game, that my friend, excites me.
