I bought and tried the logitech MX700. It's good but I didn't like it. You need a really smooth surfance or ice skatez because this thing is heavy. I always used the standard Microsoft Optical Mouse. Going from that to this logitech is so different, and it made it hard for me to play games. The logitech software doesn't allow you to set the standard mouse sensitivity as high as I would like for desktop movement. There's the acceleration option but that is annoying.

The Microsoft standard optical mouse still is #1 for me. So, you might want to try the Logitech in a store somewhere with the batteries inside it, because it's going to take a lot of getting use to if you are used to using a corded optical.

Nope, the mx700 isn't compatible with other logitech receivers. You'll have to use two receivers if you have a wireless keyboard.

I found the array of speeds fine. I'm blazing all over the screen, with the speed at just over half.

Also, you're right about switching from a regular microsoft corded optical mouse for games. I would always have to pick my mouse up while I'm playing and re-situate it...and with this it's definitely a difference b/c of the batteries. I'm not a weakling though...so I'm sure I'll get used to it. I just h8 cords...

Run
this Logitech fix. Reboot. Wheel should work. Basically, it changes a registry setting. This has been a logitech thing for years. Don't know why you should have to bother, but it does work.

This works if you want to buy this with a friend or something. PM this mouse to accessmicro.com, they have it listed for 58, get two and apply a 30 off 100 coupon that can be found somewhere. It comes out to be 81.60 + tax. Split that with a friend and its about 40 bucks for the each of you. and if you want to make sure you get free shipping you can always add something small.

I'm trying to decide if I should get the Elite Duo or the MX700. What do you guys think? Is the Elite Duo mouse good enough for gaming?

I skipped the wireless and extra $15 and picked up the MX500 for $35 after MIR. I don't mind the cord, maybe I'm just old-school. ;)

If you combind this deal with the Clothes deal.. you'll be getting the mouse basically for 20 bucks.

ugh, i want logitech's wireless keyboard and the mx700.. they need to make a bundle for this...

My thought exactly!! One of the reasons why I'm considering the elite duo over this mouse is because I won't have to have 2 recievers.

Small question...can you configure this mouse for cut and paste functions (ie. have one button for pasting text and another button for pasting other text)? I'm a SW tester and am looking for something easy to cut and paste text into apps. Thanks.

Yes.. different schemes I've tried are setting the buttons to cut/paste or page up/page down. I also like to set one button to close the current window - that doesn't seem like a big deal but it's so handy not having to click that X all the time!

As for being able to do more advanced cut and paste functions (such as being able to copy and paste different text simultaneously) you can probably download software for that and set the mouse's buttons to execute whatever key combination is needed
