Nice - Westy 42" LCD (W4207) - $900 after coupon

ENDING TODAY---

Best Buy has the 42" Westy LCD TV (monitor only, no tuner) for $1000, normally $1500. Apply the 10-12% coupon that's currently out there to take you down to about $900 - not a bad deal for this set.

I believe the sale AND the coupon expires today though, so you might want to jump. The coupon does state that it's "not valid with other coupons or offers" but it's worth a shot, if you can haggle possibly 🙂

FYI

This screen does 1080p. It is advertised as 1080i however I have my360 hooked up to it, and when I select 1080pm and the check the display properties within the tv's menu it does indeed display at 1080p

that coupon is pretty solid. for TV's at least. trying to get it to work on comp. monitors is another story.

Good price for a set, but it's not a 1080p set. The W4207 is an exclusive BB model and is 1366 x 768.

It's on sale for $999 all week. In the circular.

How do you guys get this coupon to work? I just tried it again today on this TV at three of my local BB's and when you give them the coupon they change the price of the TV to regular price, $1499.

And no, this is not a 1080p set it is a best buy exclusive 720p/1080i set.

You posted this on FW as well. You cant exceed the physical resolution of the screen. Either a) you have the wrong model or b) your tv is downconverting the image.

Also, as for the standard defintion content looking horrible, that depends on how well your tuner scales it. As this monitor has no tuner, the picture quality is almost 100% dependent on the source.

I once had a plasma EDTV and all that the info shows is what the material is being broadcast in, 1080i, 1080p, etc .. all are downscaled to the max resolution of the set although nothing on the screen will show that.

I got this TV today. They wouldn't accept the 10% off coupon because they said it was on sale.

Still, for $1000, this TV looks amazing. I am getting my Time Warner HD box this week hopefully. XBOX 360 looks amazing on it.

I have to ask, why are people praising the Westy's so much? I started to look for an HDTV a couple weeks ago, and based on all of the "reviews" figured I'd start hunting down a Westy. Lo and behold, after comparing them in several different stores, the IQ ain't that great. I know I'm looking at a split store feed for a demo, but when you look at any current model Westy (27", 32", 37" and the 42") the pictures look a bit muted - which could easily just be calibration I know. But what's more, the images generally look more fuzzy than others, even the cheap brands. What I mean is you can't see crisp edges and contract like you do on other sets. Honestly, I went to Costco and looked at a Vizio 42", and I was far more impressed with the IQ on it. Hell, in BestBuy the Maxent screen looked better than the Westy.

You'd need to buy one, take it home, and try it with one of your feeds. Store displays are usually parallel feed through 1 source. The people talking about Westy's usually own them. Like me. They're perfect pc monitors, and hd-dvd tubes (through xbox360).

Right, I understand that. But 3 different physical stores, about 6 different physical sets, all showing the same type of "softened" image. Maybe it's just me. Either way, this still is a kickass deal on a big set.

I have the Westy 1080p 37" LCD and it's a fantastic set. Store displays really don't do it justice any place that I've seen.
