Anybody tried to download a bios update from abit recently? I got a new cpu (cele 1.2 tually, with the powerleap adapter), which according to their (powerleap's) compatability list works fine on the sh6. I put it in and lo-it doesn't work. Abit's website is useless, I tried to download both the manual and the latest bios, but it won't download. F-U abit, for making a retarded website. Why bother releasing bios updates if nobody can download them.

<end rant>.

I should be able to get this working later, I think I have my dip switches set to 133, and I need to figure out how to set them back to default. I wish I could find my copy of the manual and not be at abit's mercy.

LOL (not really, it is actually a sad affair). About a year ago I encountered a similiar issue with ABIT where there ftp site was down for ~2 weeks for site-upgrades. They took the two weeks and then I was able to download the new BIOS etc. but they really had no qualms about screwing over their customers for weeks while they took their time bringing the ftp site back up.

if anybody has a copy of the 7u bios or the sh6 manual please pm me. Abit will probably be recieving a nasty phone call.

edit: nevermind, I found the manual at www.motherboards.org, they'll probably have the bios too.

edit again: they don't.

Thanks for the help John.

I got it working, the post reports a 142 mhz chip, but windows works fine and is reporting a celeron 1.2. I'm still going to update the bios to see if I can get it to properly report the cpu speed. The instructions say "don't worry," but I don't want to have to hit F1 every time I reboot. Also, for anyone interested, the powerleap adapter does not report the cpu temp in the bios for some reason.

<< great update on the powerleap adapter/upgrade >>

I've got a bit more here

I started a new thread about my experiences with it in the CPU forum
