That's really cheap, damn. I don't have transfer limits with my ISP but I pay for it. If you are on a plan that has a limit, they bill you per GB the moment you pass the limit. I know this is a lot more lax in the west though.

Ouch, we've got no limits, there is a terms of use agreement thing that says you can't use any amount of data that negatively effects other customers, but I've been known to download 500GB in a month without issue. I can't wait to go up to 100Mb, I will also get an upload upgrade to 15Mb which will be a welcome change, internet is pretty cheap around here.

It's cable, (fibre optic) It's going up to 100Mb in a month or so (so they keep telling us) It's £25pm (in American speak that's $40)

FFFffffuuuuuuuuuuu.....

We are paying 151/mnth with taxes all in for the cable TV and this 50/3 Internet service with the 175GB cap. Although It's not a real cap, I could do 300 and they wouldn't mind so long as it didn't become a habit.

Seriously, unless you're pirating Blu Ray Movies, I cannot fathom using 175 GB. I need to sleep, I don't download movies. The most space I use is steam games and eve online downloads. Then again, I would have to erase and redownload my entire list about 5 times to get anywhere near the cap

Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, etc take huge amounts of bandwidth.

I download Hi-Def 720p and 1080p/i TV shows all the time. I try not to go over too much for the month, but I certainly could.

JESUS! That is a fuck load of money for a fuck little of internet, I feel for you, internet must be expensive state side! When I get my upgrade it wont cost any more money. I started on 128k and got upgraded and upgraded until now, I've been with them for years and years. It's nice every so often getting an e-mail or a letter saying "Next month you are being upgraded from 10Mb to 20Mb" or "50Mb to 100Mb"

Someone pleas tell me how can anyone go over 100gb a month? The most I have ever used in my life was 75gb and my ass was glued to the comp watching 2 or 3 seasons of a couple shows on hulu and sending gigs of vacation pictures.
I use about 35gigs on average.

Full season of House in HD is like 20-25GB.

Ok so let's say 25gig for browsing 3 seasons of tv shows 60 episodes 75gigs so you have your 100 but that is about 60+ hours of show watching + internet. It is hard for me to belive that anyone using 100gigs worth of internet is spending less than 8 hours a day on line. What about sleep ? School work friends? 24H day – 8h sleep = 16h -8h internet = 8h for life eating, showering going to the bathroom going out working or school ?

well sometimes you download just to collect for watching later or just for the hell of it.

i don't personally use 100 gb a month though. i'd fill up my file server in a few months.

I very rarely download stuff while I'm home, I just leave it running while I'm asleep or I start it while I'm out.

Ok but you still need to watch it or do you just dl for the sake of it:hmm:

I do watch it, but normally if it's a TV episode I will watch one or two episodes a night... Sometimes I'll download stuff for other people too.

It occurred to me that 3 BR rips would do it. I have been getting bored with tv/movies lately so it's difficult for me to find something I want to watch or websites i want to go to. This is why I can't understand these insane amounts of data people are using. I remember seeing a TED lecture where a guy said that dl 1mb of data is the equivalent of a bucket of coal of energy.

Aside from TV and some animed movies I don't download pirated stuff any more. If you do though it's easy to hit 100. Even with just the TV shows it's easy for me if I let it go that high.

Anything I download is generally set up to do so automatically, or I paste a load of links into a script I wrote which will do the leg work

What kind of things would you be downloading where you would be looking at a list of links? I used to download emulator ROMS where I would do this.
