I would propose that only those with higher degrees from more prestigious universities than GWB be allowed to post anything else on this thread. Keep in mind W's B.A. and M.A. are from Yale and Harvard.

This thread could get real quiet real quick.

Didn't GWB get into Yale with only a C average and also graduate Harvard with a C average? I could of sworn I read this somewhere, don't flame me if i'm wrong - just asking for confirmation or not - anybody w/links?

*EDIT* Straight from the horses mouth

you are correct

"It's a good thing he surrounds himself with talented advisors now, because he struggled in Political Science 13b (71), Sociology 55a (70) and Economics 10 (71 in the fall and 72 in the spring)." 😱

Thanks McPhreak, I soon found that same Linki shortly thereafter and updated my post. Guess this kind of information just backs up Red Dawn's claim (money+friend+pull strings, ect..), right KenGr?

Well, personally, I think most people would agree with me when I say that the person I want to be running the most powerful country in the world (and my country at that) would be among the smartest people our nation has to offer>>

Like perhaps a Rhodes Scholar unhindered by sexual tension?

I propose that only those who have more influential fathers than GWB be allowed to post in this thread (GHWB was Director of the CIA, VP, President). A man who gets nervous while speaking and can't correctly cite the adage "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me" should not have gotten through Yale and Harvard.

Wow only 12 posts until the inevitable Nazi reference!

"I can Flame That Loon in -- 3 posts."
"Flame That Loon."

LOL!! That's almost sig material!

I'm not going to jump into any particular political bandwagon here- just going to make some general observations
Too many people equate "book learning" with high intelligence and capabilities. To counter this take a look at 2 Presidents ( I chose 2 Democrats, BTW) Harry Truman and Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter was vastly more educated (A Nuclear Scientest) possibly more intelligiant , a successful farmer and state politician. Harry Truman graduated High School, never went to college (did take some night courses), failed in business, was a political pawn of powerful interests in the state of Missouri (Pendergast) and was widely held to be "that small man from Missouri"
How many today consider Jimmy Carter the better President?

In my opinion, the biggest problem is having an intelligent leader, and a defect that Bush is mercifully free of, is that a person of intelligence has to think about where they want to lead. Such a man, by comparison to Bush, will appear modest, cautious, and even hesitant to move anywhere too quickly. Bush is wonderful because, like Raygun, he can make instant decisions.

Have you heard bush speak? It is not exactly the vernacular that one associates with Masters degrees from Harvard. Bush can't even recall his college days as was shown in an interview a couple years ago(he mumbled something and then changed the subject when asked). Yale was probably one big coke binge for him. You would be supprised what money and power can do for one and one's family

Not so fast. I'll never forget him adding an "e" when this 7 yr old spelled potato on the chalkboard. Not only was he wrong it's almost like he was trying to show up a 7 year old.

Carbonyl, You can't even keep the politicians that you are trying to bash straight and yet you call them dumb. That's funny.

It's become the common practice of liberals, democrats, use whatever name you want, that when they have no attack on the issues they pull out the "but he's dumb card". The did it to Quayle and now they are trying to do it to Pres. Bush.

William Figueroa and the potato(e)

Figueroa liked to call Quayle dumb. Did anyone ever wonder what became of him?

"Now, fast forward five years to 1997, when The Trentonian decided to look up William Figueroa to see how he was doing after his hour of fame.

By then, he was a 17-year-old high school dropout who had fathered a child and was working a low-paying job at an auto showroom."

no matter who the leader is there will always be people making fun / not agreeing with the president or leaders.

It's all good fun🙂

So are you gonna vote for me or what?

Carbonyl, You have my vote for Democratic sheeple of the year for continuing to spread their election year ploy that Bush is dumb. Congratulations.

I look at it this way. Let's accept the argument that Bush is not smart. I wonder what that makes the Democrats since he beat them in 2000 and in 2002. He beat them in 2000 in the middle of a huge economic boom when the Democrats were the incumbents. He beat them in 2002 during a near recession when he was the incumbent.

In truth, I'm not surprised that the Democrats try to label him as "dumb". Many of the core of the party are from "intellectual" bastions and it is a common slur (and in my opinion a common sign of insecurity) to label those that do not agree with you as "dumb". After all, if they were smart, they would agree with you, right?

I just ignore those types of comments from both sides.

Michael
