Nice parts of Brooklyn?

Anyone live in Brooklyn know any nice parts? I am thinking of moving there, maybe Brooklyn Heights or anywhere nice around there. I am looking to spend up to 1,500/m on rent.

So ya wanna live in Brooklyn, eh?

Brooklyn Heights is nice, but the rents up there are high, similar to Manhattan rents. Go down south to Bay Ridge or Bensonhurst. Rents are around the low-mid 1000's for a 2 bedroom i think. Park Slope is kind of nice too. Parts of Williamsburg can be nice as well.

The best part of Williamsburg: Peter Luger's Steakhouse. If you ever have a sh!tload of money to kill, Peter Luger's is the place to go. I'm going there this Saturday, their steak sauce is the bomb diggity shizznit.

Marine Park is a nice area too, but it's very far from the city, if that matters to you.

THere's more to tell about Brooklyn, but it escapes me now... ;)

Check out Carroll Gardens. It's right next to Park Slope and has great subway access and a slew of restaurants. It's an up and coming neighborhood, but does not yet have the outrageous rents of Brooklyn Heights or Park Slope.

Thanks for the advice Guybrush and Mwilding. Got to move soon and my choices are Manhattan, Jersey City, or Brooklyn. I think Brooklyn's the best bet.

Question, do most of the apartments have parking garages or do I need to sell my car?

A car is almost assuredly out. Between insurance and parking and tickets (inevitable) it'll cost you mega bucks.

I would also recommend looking at Hoboken. It has great access to NYC - bus, PATH, ferry. It has a TON of restaurants and bars and the real estate is not nearly as expensive as NY. I lived there for years and loved it.

Forget Jersey City, it's disgusting for the most part.

I lived in JC for a year in Newport. It's really nice for about a 1 mile radius. Outside of that it's pretty disgusting. Hoboken sounds like a good bet too, maybe I will look there as well.
