I used to ride my bike quite a bit.... didn't even bother owning a car... my bike got me everywhere I wanted to go. And, I had many many close calls with a$$holes who were blind to someone on a bike... the worst were people who turned right while passing you.
But, grasshopper, you must learn the skill! How to ride alongside a car and scratch the paintjob with your pedal. Bonus points for falling down without getting hurt!

Nah....you've got real skill when you can ride alongside the car and use the end of your handlebar to peel a nice line of paint off without crashing. :D

Believe me, I can handle a bike, but downhill + just started raining (road was slick as hell) + nowhere to go = Fausto on ass in flowers. I'm just happy I didn't lowside and wedge myself into the parked car....that would have really sucked.

No, I really didn't. I was so pissed off that I wasn't even thinking about getting a truck ID.

I once had a Fedex drivers push me off the road in my parents van back when I was 16. Second time I had driven by my self actually... I guess he didn't see, but he pushed me totally off the road on the highway in the grass. I pressed my breaks and got behind him. Sped up and yell at himt hrough my passenger windows and took down his license plate. I picked up my dad from his work (the original reason for the trip) and drove to the fedex location. I asked for the manager and guess who was already talking with him??? the driver! So I tell the manager what happened and guess what his response was.... "Sir, please leave!" :Q

I called the Fedex corporate and complained, but nothing ever happened about it. Bastards!

If you want any kind of satisfaction out of FedEx, you're going to have to write them. The moron on the other end of line more than likely took your call, then hung up and promptly forgot about it.

Make sure when you send it, at the top you cc: 11alive or WSB or some other local media.

I have the same legal rights as any other vehicle on the road aside from the "ride near the right side of the road thing". He was in MY LANE, dickweed. Please explain how I was in the wrong here. I'd love to be able to cross the center line, cause an accident, and walk away scot free every now and then.

wow glad to hear you are ok. that could have ended up much worse than it did.

but i still can't believe that he didn't stop to see if you were ok and just kept driving. that is probably the most disturbing to me.

if you want to you can probably find out which driver he was by calling up as the person from the house you saw him making the delivery.

Do you do that for cars that have crossed the center lane and are driving on your side of the road?

He's got the same rights on the road, the dumbass driver was left of the center lane and thus in the wrong.

Well actually before I'd be forced to drive off the road, I'd stop. If I were on a mountain bike I'd stop before having to baja it.

That said if I was forced to stop and I felt I was being forced to do so purposely, I'd catch up to the guy and either scare him totally out of his skin or beat his ass.

No you are wrong. UPS has a union and Fedex does not. Fedex is VERY VERY VERY anti-union.

Did you even read the first post? Even a little bit?

Cliff's notes for the lazy/stupid

-it was raining

-I was going downhill

-the FedEx moron crossed the center line coming the other way

-I crashed

-I was pissed

-He didn't stop

-I chased him

-I yelled at him

-I spat on him and told him to have intimate relations with himself

-He wasn't thrilled about this

What ^ said. You're probably thinking of their pilots who are unionized and nearly (or maybe did) stage a strike back in late 98

hmmm still sounds like you were going too fast for the conditions. I sold my car and my MTB was my only transport for 3 years....I had a lot of close calls, but I am all about the larger vehicle decides the outcome unless I can shave off enough speed and take the impact...on a bike it's a no brainer yield and pursue. In your situation he'd be more than likely coughing up blood somewhere while I was on my merry way, thinking about a new route to take home from now on.
