Brooklyn Heights is one of the best. It does have Manhattan prices though. I used to live in Bay Ridge before, and that's pretty nice too. Neighborhoods around church ave. are pretty nice too.

Williamsburg is up and coming too. The area around the Bedford Avenue station on the L train is developing fast. It's so close to the city.

Brooklyn Heights is the place to live. Really high class over there.

You're about 40 years too late.
Any neighborhood that doesn't allow that NY troll Spike Lee in it.

It's amazing Brooklyn get such a bad rep. Brooklyn is HUGE. There are both good and bad neighborhoods. There are a ton of homes, which are worth millions such as this
Mansion.

Having lived in Brooklyn for most of my 25 years (Binghamton U. for 4 years), here is a short list of nice neighborhoods and some essential info.

Neighborhood-----Price---# Train Stops to Manhattan

Brooklyn Heights--$$$$--------2
Carroll Gardens----$$$---------3-4
Boerum Hill---------$$----------3
Cobble Hill----------$$$---------3-4
Park Slope----------$$$---------7
Williamsburg-------$$----------~2

Then there are the up and coming neighborhoods such as..
Greenpoint
Clinton Hill
Prospect Heights
Fort Greene

Then there are the affluent neighborhoods that are FAR from Manhattan.
Manhattan Beach
Bay Ridge
some others I can't think of.

I don't know too much about this last group as I grew up in Park Slope and now live in Cobble Hill. If you happen to be young, the best neighborhoods would be Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill or Williamsburg. Lots of younger people moving to these areas to escape the ridiculous rents in Manhattan. Also, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill all border each other, each having about a 5 block radius. If you?re the "artsy" type, Williamsburg is definitely for you, although rents there have skyrocketed and a lot of people have moved to neighboring Greenpoint.

Although I'm a little biased, IMO, Brooklyn is a great place to live. I hope I have gotten at least one person to reconsider their feelings for Brooklyn.

I don't really know of anyone 'good neighborhoods' but any place that has Russians as the majority is a safe neighborhood. I'm not kidding. Asian neighborhoods are pretty quiet but at the same time where theres asians theres Asia, meaning every store around their is going to be chinese/jap/korky... no offense, their good people :)

Only if you are Russian yourself. The mob won't protect non-russians

Hey I live in BK and it's not a completely unsafe place, but from my experiences, it's the borough with the most problem places. Actually the Bronx has lots of problems also, but just like Brooklyn it has some nice places as well. That doesn't mean you can't find a safe and nice place to set down in Brooklyn, it's harder than in say, Manhattan or Queens.
