Nice - MWAVE some XP cpu's w/ free soyo board

Page 3 - Seeking answers? Join the AnandTech community: where nearly half-a-million members share solutions and discuss the latest tech.
Minor gripe:

The Mwave page says that the board has 3 pci slots, but the picture on that page and the actual Soyo web page list only 2 pci slots.

Great deals regardless.

I bought one of the XP2600 of these puppies.

I also got one of the 128MB Kingston sticks.
What do you think I can OC this combo to without upgrading the HSF?

I got in on the 2600+. I tried to change my order to a 2800 since the 2600 is probably a thoroughbred and not a barton, but my email was undeliverable for some reason. Still happy with what I got though.

I can confirm if its a barton or thoroughbred when it arrives.

I received my tracking numbers yesterday for the bits I ordered (building a little pc for my neice... good thing she won't know when I swap the 2600 for one of my 1600s 😀 (she's only 11 😉)

Trying to resist buying another... are the prices for the 2800 and 3000 hot?

According to pricewatch their price is $1 higher than the lowest... so basically you pay shiping + $1 for the mobo...

I think I will resist... I'd like a LCD 😉

Do the prices on pricewatch include HSF? If not, then add another 15-20 + tax plus shipping to order, unless you get it with the CPU.

Yesterday, the page said: ($50.00 MWAVE Instant Rebate Available till 3/22/04) (*Regular $50 - $50 Instant Rebate = $0)

This is an instant rebate, not a 'mail-in' rebate. The price I paid was 110.03 with shipping for the XP2600+, MB, and 128MB of DDR266 ram.

The updated page on MWAVE says -> ($50.00 Mail-In Manufacturer Rebate Available till 4/22/04).
This would lead me to believe that I can mail in a rebate and get an extra $50 back...is that correct?. The final price is what you pay today minus mail-in rebate? Am I correct?

I know how you feel lol...

Luckily I have to control my own spending now because I need to save up $6000 for tuition for studying abroad this summer(and I'm not even actually studying...just interning while paying them money...wtf?)

Just ordered ... then discovered that there is no form for the $50 SOYO MIR on their rebate forms page. Sent email asking about it.

IT appears teh instant rebate which was godo until 3/22 has now been replaced by a mail in rebate.
which starts today and lasts til 4/22.
so I would guess that those purchased yesterday would not be eligible for the mail in rebate
and vice versa.
However the rebate is not up yet so we'll see wut the terms say.

Just got a reply back telling me that I can find all their rebate forms on the rebate forms page.

Uhmm yea ... if you had bothered to read my brief email, you would have seen that I was on your rebate forms page, and the SOYO $50 MIR is not there

my order is shipped. I assumed it would because it supports a 266 mhz bus but will this motherboard support DDR PC2100 RAM?

I'm mainly getting this combo to throw a pc today for someone using a bunch of old parts i have lying around.

thanks

ok, thanks for the manual link, it specifies PC2100. I forgot what PC2100 actually meant in terms of mhz 🙂

changed deal and dates, now its a 50.00 MIR good till 04/22/04.

not as hot now, but it was pretty steamy for those that got in before it changed 🙂

YMMV on the rebate from Soyo. I did a google on Soyo and rebate, results were disappointing.
Whereas $81 for my 2600 combo looked great.
