Hmmm, I checked out Volkswagen's and Edmunds' UK sites and it seems the Golf is slightly larger, more powerful and more expensive than the Polo. It's tough to tell because both of them are available in like 500 configurations (many different engines and body styles).

Polo = Medium
Lupo = Small

I used to drive a VW Polo when I lived in UK. Loved it.

It is smaller than Golf and smaller engines.
Gas consumption is excellent - very useful in UK where gas is 4 times what it costs in USA

Anyone know if there are plans to release the new Polo in US market?

I've been driving VW's for 16 years.

I love the mid-80's-mid-90's cars...will probably drive them for the rest of my life.

The Polo is an ok car in normal form, in GTI form it is a little screamer. Polo & Lupo are to small for US regulations. Polo does not compete with new Mini. I much prefer the Audi A2 to the Polo, also Toyota Yaris is better, and Peugeot 307 is sweet in this range

The Rabbit is a Golf. It was only called a Rabbit in the states. The Scirocco was renamed to Corrado to get away from its insurance reputation. If you put a Scirocco MK I next to a Corrado you will see the design similarities.

It is bigger than a Geo Metro, Subaru Justy or Ford Fiesta. The Lupo is about the size of those vehicles.

Well, if I wanted to buy a car the same size as the Polo, I would get This ! Well you have to sacrifice the rear-seat for the engine...
