Whether ATI intended the x1800xt to compete with the 7800GTX 512 or not doesn't matter. It's whats available right now, it's the fastest card available from ATI so naturally everyone will pit it against the fastest card from Nvidia.

Exactly

Everyone pitted the 6800 Ultra against the x850 XT PE, which it was never intended to compete with, though it did beat it in some tests, which the x1800 fails to do to the GTX512

I just showed you some benches where the x1800 wins. But, what's even more funny is that last gen all the nvidia trolls kept shouting how it doesnt matter if you're getting lower fps, the 6-series is still better because of newer features, like SM3. Well, now they conveniently ignore the 2004 feature set of the 7800, pathetic dynamic branching performance, pathetic shimmering, ugly shadows, primitive AF, primitive HDR, and post crap like "OMG the 512mb gtx is 5 fps faster, Nv pwnz Ati."

Well, I can 100% say I would've preferred the x850 XT PE over the 6800 Ultra although driver problems always worry me with ATi

I can also 100% guarantee i wasn't one of those fanboys, and im still not a fanboy.

And driverheaven is on of the top ATi sites on the web, the fact that they even admit that the 7800 GTX 512 is better is amazing. I'm not a fanboy, I can tell you that site is DEFINITLY biased.

ATi logos and colors, contests for ATi card... what more proof can you get without them just saying "We are biased toward ATi in our benchmarks"

For almost $200 dollars more, I hope the 7800GTX 512 outperforms a X1800XT 512.

Can't believe this thread hasn't been locked. Nice flamebait.

Its NOT flamebait

I posted this in 4 places, this is the only forum that started flaming.

Visiting the Aandtech Video forum is flamebait, not posting a thread with facts.

Not sure if this is flamebait or not. Looks like it can go either way. Just keep the reviews in perspective.

Recent nvidia cards have been outpreforming the ati cards when you do not turn up all the graphcs settings, or go to high resolutions. As soon as you start cranking the resolution and textures and shadows etc ati usually takes the lead. This is very obvious AT's 1800xl review.

I am sure ATI's XT card will close the gap when it comes to higher video settings, although i doubt it will pass nvidia 512 card even if ati can get their drivers tweaked fully .. I suppose that just means a new version of ATI's 1800 will be released at higher clock speeds ... and then it will be nvidia's turn again. The glories of competition.

You missed the point, dug. Had nothing to do with the more comprehensive reviews request.

It varies with the settings. It looks like the X1800s take less of a hit going from no AA to 4x AA while the 7800 cards lose less performance going from 1600x1200 to 2048x1536. Makes my choice harder, since both are important to me. :p

Apart from that game, the 7800 series seems to have a higher minimum fps. You know, the minimum fps results from various reviewers show the X1800XT having real LOW minimum fps.

I mean look at farcry's HDR bench. The X1800XT has 0 minimum fps but the 7 series dont. Is it me or 7800 series do HDR better, look at the fps scores..

I don't see where it shows zero; xbit's charts don't show anything at all for those cards. Confusing.

Are there any sites that show the minimum fps with more games than this?

Unfortunatly I dont know of any other sites that show the minimum framerate, I myself really like that as well and wish AT would do that.

ps. The Sapphire X1800XT 512mb is available at ewiz for $510

Now that's what I call a review - IQ tests, min/max/avg fps, latest games, High Quality settings... and the 512gtx is starting to look less and less impressive.

You can't trust the review, they used an intel processor in the test rig.

Everyone else who use real processor shows 512 GTX ownage.

That's like saying a Ferrari sucks because its way too expensive, when what you mean to say is:

Nothing pisses me off more when people who can't be honest.

Then you have the 7800GT 10-20FPS slower then the 1800xt for $150 less, then you have the 6800GS 10-20FPS slower then the 7800GT for $150 less.... where do you stop?

when it gets close to 60 fps

Well it is a ripoff/expensive/sucks compared to two GT's for $550. Maybe that's what he means? Price/performance is'nt there at all.

Easy. The minimum level of performance that will satisfy your requirements.

You have to pay top dollar for top performance obviously. The 7800 GTX 512 and for that matter the 256MB GTX is only 1% of the total market for a reason. They are luxury products.
