Yes, the deals are great. I ordered the Chaintech TI4200 VIVO card yesterday for $168 - shipped. I was at a computer show on Saturday here in Northern Virginia and one vendor had this same card for $189 + Tax. Also, another vendor had the Gainward 128 MB TI4200 VIVO "Golden Sample" for $219 + tax and that was about it for the exciting TI4200 cards. All the others were basically Radeon 7000/7500/8500 varieties along with older chipset nVidia cards. And, to top it off, I had to pay $6.00 admission to see this overpriced crap. Thank you, NewEgg!!!

Oh, a quick note about NewEgg and Shipping: As most of you are aware, NewEgg usually takes a few days to "process" an order before it actually ships out. However, last night while I was checking out during the purchase of my card, NewEgg offers an Express option for $2.99. Basically, the "Express" option allows your order to be bumped up in priority and shipped on the same day you place your order - provided your order is placed by a certain time. As indicated, I placed my order late last evening (Sunday evening) and I already have my FedEx tracking number - less than 24 hours after I placed the order.

how's the 2D image quality compare to ati 8500? i heard nvidia card has pretty bad 2d quality at high resoultion (1280x1024 and above)

And yet another way they can rip you off some more. I know everyone loves newegg but I personally try to stay away from them if possible. Ever since they relabeled their 'dead' hardware as 'refurbished because it wasn't selling I just don't trust them.

thats strange - my last 5 orders @ newegg in the last 8 weeks shipped the same day....and they've been very good with RMA's too... i've only had great experiences with newegg so far......

i agree, why do you have to pay extra just so they process your order more quickly? in the past when i ordered from newegg they has shipping info pretty quickly...they charge you now?

its just the luck of the draw.

my luck so far with "dead" hardware or "refurbish"
Pent IV 2.2 400mhz bus-good deal
enermax powersupply-bad
Antec True Power 430 watt-good deal
Pent IV CoolMaster heatsink/fan -good deal
AMD XP2000-bad deal

Newegg.com has never given me hard time about returning the bad ones back. It just cost me shiping.

I used to work 2 blocks from NewEgg, and no matter how much I begged and pleaded, they wouldn't let me walk over and pick up the products I bought... 🙁

ditto, i've ordered a dozen times in the last year and everything shipped the day I ordered it...i'm liking that gainward for $144 shipped...

No, this is not something new, and no, it's not worth it.

Ordered the Gainward last night!!

I had 2 bad vid cards in a row from them, refurbs though. I don't think I'll buy another "refurb" from them again. Other than that
can't complain!

Well considering that card was probably already 2 or 3 years old when you got it, I wouldn't consider that completely unreasonable.

I used to get same-day shipping all the time, but since Newegg instituted this surcharge, it seems that I don't get same-day unless I pay extra for it. In other words, I think they sit on the orders an extra day to give people incentive to cough up the extra bucks. Amazon does the same thing--their free shipping takes a week to process, giving you good incentive to pay extra for expedited shipping.

i picked my chaintech ti4200 128mb vivo card for $127.50 this afternoon. can't wait till get the card!

gotta love newegg. =)

btw, i've had only good experience with newegg refurbs.

Where did you find that chaintech card? I only see "Chaintech Geforce4 4200 "GT21" Special Edition VIVO Retail" for $168 with free shipping.

I bought a refurb PNY Geforce 4 4600 from newegg and it was not working at all. Asked for an RMA and only had to bite the bullet on the return shipping.
