target is selling a Lyon (made by washburn) guitar starter kit for $37.XX

includes a electric 6 string guitar (strat copy), tuner, pics, gig bag, portable mini amp, and guitar cord. Originally $149.99 it has dropped to 75% off today.

also, they have a 4 string electric bass with similar specs for the same price.

PICS:

guitar in box
bass&guitar
tiny free amp

would be a great gift for someone starting out, or a good backup for a professional.

quality is actually pretty good...with all Target clearance..YMMV.. I know my Targets each have 6-12 of these left.

It's almost worth it to call a taxi to get over to target... damn not having a car at college. I might have to convince/coerce friends with cars to drive me over there.

make sure you call first, and give them the DPCI for it..they can check stock using that number

Hrm, even a cheap bass of unknown quality is better than no bass at all, and I'm in the latter camp right now... I haven't had a bass in eight years. I'll have to look into this.
Thanks!

It depends which you like more. I'd say there are two general styles/builds for electrics.

Stratocaster style
and
Les Paul style.

Agile makes great great great guitars for the price. http://www.rondomusic.net/
Even the SST57 Strat style is comparable to some upper end Fender Standard MIM Stratocasters.

I got 3 of them...2 electric guitars and 1 electric bass... each $37.54 + tax

PICS:

first impression: decent build quality... both bass and guitar stay in tune rather well! frets arent as smooth as possible... pickups are a little blah on the bass...but for $37..who cares..anyone in Cincinnati?

there are over 10 guitar kits at the Milford, OH store...there are about 2-3 left at the Beechmont store.

as for others not getting the same price... this is the first day that they should of dropped..so if you ring it up and it says "not on file"..go up to the front end and ask for the "GSTL"..tell them to get a "PDT" and use "UPCS" to find the last price..should be $37 or less...they should sell it to you for that.

for those of you that are still at $74... wait a day or two..the pricing team has to activate the DPCI for the 75% off, and it is possible they are behind in their scanning.

I grabbed one for $37.54 at the Manhattan Beach, CA Target. They had about 6 left and 2-3 bass guitars left. The acoustic was still $130.

edit: Here's a link.

Any chance anyone has an extra electric guitar they bought that they'd be willing to sell for slightly greater than cost + shipping? I won't be able to get to Target before they're sold out :(

I would be interested in getting one of the guitars as well. If anyone has an extra that would be willing to sell and ship for a reasonable price please PM me. Not sure I can make it to a Target since the closest one is an hour and 20 minutes away.

This is a great deal.
