Nic Problem

A few weeks ago cable went out but at the time i wasnt sure if it was that so i switched nics to test it well i have an old one lying around so i through that in..well it works ok its just that ill get random pauses for a sec while on the web....now the real problem is that when i put in the new one again windows detects it but i cant get on the net or anything it wont work and i tried it usb and again it wont work...the only thing ive noticed is that as i keep switchin the network connection keeps changing its name....its at so and so #8 now where before it was #1...any ideas?

Well, if you are keep changing network cards, windows changes the names of them. So that is normal. As for the cable issue, you might want to try using a different cable modem. It is possible that it has gone bad, especially since multiple NICs haven't been able to connect.

Nah the modem is fine cause im using it right now.
