Been out of PC's for awhile and this one has me stumped, it's probably something extremely simple too.

Reinstalled the OS on a Gateway GT5098E PC that has a Foxconn C51GU01 motherboard. Upon first loading up Windows the NIC was no where to be found in the Device Manager. I then went and DL'd the motherboard drivers for this motherboard from Gateway and loaded them up on the Gateway machine. Everything seemed normal and I had to reboot and all that jive and after rebooting the NIC is still nowhere to be found in the device manager (thus of course I'm unable to access the web from the machine to do other updates). There are only two devices that are showing up under Network Connections and that is the 1394 and the Wireless device.

Any thoughts on what's going on here?

Wrong driver most likely, insert another card to do updates and then run something to find out what is actually installed for a card and then find the right driver.

Are you still using Windows XP Media Center that comes with it?

Also I see a Motherboard Driver Package here. Is that the one you're talking about? If you look in the zip file, you'll see an Ethernet folder, and I think it should have the driver you're looking for.

Yeah, Windows XP Media Center is what it loaded on it.

And that is the one I have tried several times now mcmilljb to no avail.

And the problem is amdskip, is that the NIC is the onboard NIC and I don't have another NIC to try/use for the machine for the time being. The only slot that is available on the PC is a PCIE.

The driver package that you linked (and that I have already tried/used) should for all intent and purposes work...it's just not.

I would check to make sure the nic is not disabled in the bios. Then I would try to force windows to do a search for the device.

Ah yes, the nic was disabled in the bios, see I knew it had to be something simple like that.

Thanks :)
