NIC clash with sound card

i have a athlon xp 2200 system with a built in realtek ac97 sound card, and just recently i've added a
Realtek RTL8193/810X NIC card (PCI) and i can't get sound out of the sound card no more.

i can only get sound if i disable the NIC in device manager and reboot.
I already went to realtek.com.tw to get the latest drivers for both hardware.

What other remedy can i try?

Plus i have two hard drive on my system, the primary is 80GB and the second is 40GB.
And after i plugged in the NIC card, the second HDD kept getting not detected during startup...
Could the NIC card somehow drew too much power causing the second HDD to not start?

Win XP
Athlon 2200
512 ddr ram
nvidia riva tnt2
realtek ac97 built in sound card
msi KT4V
d-link adsl modem dsl 300g

thanks in advance!!

Double check and confirm the NIC is seated properly within the PCI slot. If that doesn't work, it could be an IRQ conflict. Try changing PCI slots for your NIC, again making sure it's seated properly before powering up again. That might work for you, if not check back and let us know.

Good luck.

well, i think the NIC is really in, i can't possibly push it any more inwards.
And as for irq conflicts, i checked in the properties in device manager, and there's no problem...

i've try moving the NIC card too, yet no help...

BTW the riva tnt card is a pci card too, and the nic card is currently in the third pci slot while the riva tnt2
is in pci slot 1.

Any more advice that i can try?
