You might as well just bring it along if you want to get across the border for cheap cigs.

Well neither of us have a passport, which is why i was wondering. And I googled it, thanks, elfenix, but as I said, I was getting conflicting results.

Don't care about cheap cigs. either.

Is there anything different, or special right in the area that would be worth getting a passport?

I hear the Canadian side is much nicer/scenic.

Better view/scenery in Canada.

it is. they had a walkway where you could walk over. also there are some good bars that will serve stupid colleg kids...

Niagara Falls *is* the Canadian side. Sure we have a crappy portion that's also Niagara Falls, but it's nothing compared to the Canadian's.

Yeah, the water's always wetter in Canuckistan.

QFT. we went in '07 on that flying trip and spent the night over there.

They don't have the real view from the US side. The Canadian side has all the great perspective of the falls.
I wonder why the US didn't try and take that from Canada.

Changes this June/July.

My new Canadian license is sufficient for ground/sea passage through the border. I still have to get a passport if I ever want to fly.

No idea about the US to Canadian side. I'm sure Canadian Border guards will probably return the favour though.

You probably got an enhanced drivers license, basically doubles as the passport card they are going to be introducing. In the US only a few states that border Mexico or Canada have started issuing them and standard drivers licenses won't be acceptable.

Getting the enhanced Ontario driver's licence actually costs more than a passport, and you'll need a passport to travel abroad anyway.

So, get the passport.

I only recently got my G2, so it came "free" for me. That is if you don't count the $120 instructor's vehicle rental and $40 test fee...

I hear the backlog for passports is next to nothing right now. If you applied, you might get it before June. You can always pay for rush service, too.
