Now that the playoffs are almost upon us, who do you think will win the Stanley Cup?

I personally want the Avalanche to win the Cup, and I think they have the personel to make it happen. However, they've been stuck in an 11 wins in 29 games slump, and too much depends on the health of a few people. Frankly, I'm not sure if they can keep it all together.

Sadly, probably the usual suspects....AKA Devils or Red Wings.

My Bruins are now on the fast track to a 4-0 first round exit....:(

Losing Thornton is really going to hurt them isn't it? Does anyone know what's wrong with him yet?

Yep. I'm pissed too. This was the best chance we have had to go deep in years, and management actually made major moves @ the deadline. We got beat 5-2 by the Dvils today @ home, went from 2nd place to 5th, and we play the Devils again, in NJ tomorrow, for our last game. We will likely lose, and end up 6th or something...

As for Thornton's injury...it's an "upper body injury"...insiders are sayin rib injury.

Thornton unsure if he'll play in playoffs

BOSTON -- Boston Bruins forward Joe Thornton couldn't say whether he will be able to play in the season finale on Sunday -- or the NHL playoffs, for that matter.

Speaking to reporters in the Bruins locker room after Boston lost to New Jersey 5-2 without him on Saturday, Thornton refused to give any information about his injury except to repeat the team's official line of "upper body injury.''

"It's pretty much the same as it was on Thursday," he said. "[I'm] a little concerned. Obviously, you want to go into the playoffs healthy."

Thornton said he would continue to ice the injury and test it Sunday before the Bruins play the Devils again. The game could determine whether Boston opens the first round at home or on the road.

Thornton left Thursday's game against the Washington Capitals after taking a slash to his right wrist and falling hard on the ice. Various reports have said Thornton's injury is to his wrist or his ribs.

Pressed on whether his arms are part of his upper body, Thornton said, "Anything from my waist up is my upper body."

What a f'in great way to go int othe playoffs. We had been playing awesome, had the lowest number of regulation losses, and we play a sh!tty game against Washington who kept sending out the AHL goons, and our best player get's hurt, and pretty much takes our playoff hopes with him.

*sigh* :|

I guess I should be used to this being a lifelong B's fan. :(

*sigh*

ughhh, and now that hockeys "wayyyyy too long and all but meaningless" season is almost over, it's time for another of the more boring sports to be televised. Heck, there's more action watching golf on tv than baseball. (Baseball, in person is fun. I still find it hard to believe that some people are entertained so easily though while watching it on tv.) Heck, if golf featured accidents more often where a stray shot goes into the gallery and knocks out a spectator or two, it might even catch up to Nascar where they could replay a video tape of the first 3 laps and no one would realize the difference if it weren't for the occasional accidents taking out a few cars.

If you think hockey's boring, it sounds like you don't follow it. It's the fastest game out there, and to call it boring makes no sense.

Oh wait...maybe you have been watching Devils vs Minnesota trap fests....

Edit:

In reading your post again....I think I mis-read. Sorry.

Keep dreaming buddy. Tdot (and Ottawa for that matter) choke every year, Mtl is bringing the cup home where it belongs :D

As much as I'd like the habs to go all the way, if Raycroft can play in the playoffs like he's played in the season Boston is going to be a tough team to beat.

No, I don't think hockey is boring at all. Just that the season is too long (or else, they really need to cut down on the number of teams making the playoffs)
Hockey's another game that's much better in person than on tv. But, the most exciting way to hear hockey is to listen to the Sabres - I don't think any other sportscaster brings as much excitement to a game as Rick Jenerett (sp?)

Oh man I agree. I have to live with these two NESN retards....Dale Arnold should be killed, and someone needs to give Klusak(sp?) some speed. I do like the away guys though...Brickley and the other guy...

IT's even worse lately now that they have brought on Paul Stewart as a commentator....he SUCKS.

I hope St. Louis and the Tampa Lightning can get it done. I love them, of course it might be because I live in Tampa. But, nah, thats not it. Just moved here from Michigan and I've liked them since they existed.

If the red wings win it though I'll be sooooooooooo pissssssssed!

I think the Red Wings are almost certain to win the cup this year. I'd like to see someone else do it, though, as long as it's not a Canadian team. :D

I'm not predicting this by any means, but if the Bruins can get to the finals and play the Wings, they did beat them the two times they met, and Raycroft shut them out in the Joe, and held them to 1 goal in a 2-1 OT win @ the Fleet.

Well, they said that last year as well... hopefully the Devils will win this year too. I'm pretty worried about the East... other than mebbe the Isles and Mtl, most of the teams in it can possibly make a run for the Cup.

Yeah, IMO...this year anyway...

Eastern Conference > Western Conference

The NE division is the power in the league right now...IMO.

As much as I love Tampa, and what they have done this year, and love watching them play, I have to wonder if they would have done as well being in a different division. The southleast division is the weakest in hockey...

Well, if the matchups stay the same in the West, the Wings play the Preds, who they actually lost the season series to 2 games to 3. The Wings won the last two games in the series though. Heh, as a Wing hater, I hope the Preds can pull off the upset.

I've been a Red Wings fan since they before they had Bowman coaching, I've gotta go with the Wings.
