No, it feels like yer driving FAST and hence you are gonna skid a little bit. Use some brakes.

Why can't there be a PC Racer that gives you the McLaren F1 as a driver :\ (not the GTR, or LM, or anything like that).

Side note, anyone else not able to get their Logitech MOMO wheel to work with this demo?

From what I can tell if you use brakes to much you can forget about winning. Maybe front wheel drive cars will control a little easier. Like I said I'd say it takes some getting used to. All in all I ain't to impressed with the game much but maybe I need to play more than a couple races.

Since we are going down memory lane, I would like to see a 'Midtown Madness2' but with updated graphics. Me and my LAN buddies had quite a bit of fun with the cops & robbers mode. Not a sim but a lot of fun for everyone. If you were not that good a driving you could be the spoiler and just wait for the other drivers and ram into them.

I isntalled the game and used the hack to get it to run at 1680x1050 and played for.....oh...5-10 seconds and uninstalled it. Really really turned off by the look, feel.....music. I mean, didnt have the same feel as the first one or second...

Well certainly you are entitled to your opinion, but let me just say you suck! :p (lol kiddin of course)

I mean yeah it's not like the first or the second but I think you abandoned it too quickly.. Did you try all the challenges? The cop pursuit especially? I find the game far more interesting and entertaining than the NFS:U series, regardless the fact that I'm more of a sim racing guy myself...

When I installed it Friday night and played one race, I exited the demo and felt disappointed. Sure, it looked pretty, but what crap was this that they were feeding me? My brother came up this afternoon, and he mentioned it, so we hopped in and played it a little bit. Once we actually hopped into running from the police and raced online, I was pretty impressed with it, and am now thinking about buying this week. Helluva turnaround, I know. But once you get used to the controls, it's fun.

Anyone know of any online modes using police? I would love to run from police cars manned by others online, or maybe have some kind of teamwork game online to evade police.

So is there something of a career mode, like NFS:U2, where there's a city that you can roam?

Porsche Unleashed was great.

Not impressed with the demo. The cars felt really light and didn't appear to have any weight to them. I am sure it is a fun arcadish game, but certainly isn't for me. Not to mention slowing down time is retarded, IMO.

Wow, I really enjoyed this, I am a big Gran turismo fan and liked UG 1/2 but this is more exciting hehe. Gonna pick it up for sure.

Guess thats why it feels like I can't seem to go straight in the game. With my wingman I am having to constantly move my thumbstick left and right to stay on the road. The back end of the car just swings from left to right.

I didn't notice anything peculiar using a Logitech joystick, steering wise. But using keys in this game is much easier IMO. After all it's just an arcade game that uses just a few keys which are easily controllable.

It took me a while to get to grips with it... performance was extremely sluggish until I realised my 9800 Pro was still underclocked :p

Handling sucked until I got used to it, now my handling is a little twitchy but ok. The slowdown button is excellent, adds some real style and gives the driver some power, recharges too fast in my opinion but this isnt a final version.

I was running FRAPS and it seemed locked at 30 FPS. Is it locked or is my substandard PC just hitting 30 FPS quite frequently?

Porsche Unleashed was great.

From screenshots I've seen, it's basically U2 meets Hot Pursuit. Free roaming with cops. Throw some guns in there and we could have a fantastic game.

I just tried this game.. waayy too arcadish..
I guess I'm just too used to GTR and Richard Burns Rally simulators..

I shouldn't even bothered with this. I guess this is great for the average racer. But if you're a little more hardcore and want some realism, look elsewhere.

BTW: it's really hard to handle in this game if you're using very high graphics settings. I turned down the graphic settings, and the laggy feeling went away.

Installed it, turned all the settings to Max.

Went to choose a car and it locked up my PC. So I uninstalled it. I was gonna get it for PS2 anyways.

Well you said it yourself.. :) It's an arcade game and in its sector is very good if not the best I've seen for a long time..
BTW Richard Burns kicks major arses !! My favorite racing simulator

I had that problem....

Downloaded it from another source, Yahoo, and it installed fine. I think theres a slightly weird demo version going around that doesnt like your dx9c for some reason.

I didn't realize they made it for the PS2. That's got to be the fugliest port ever.

Maybe your computer can't handle max settings?

Actually, I don't even know if it's out for the PS2. I just assumed it would be.

My PC should be able to handle the settings.. Athlon 64 3000+, 1GB PC3200, 6800GT. I don't see why it wouldn't. It just scared me though, because the first 6800GT I got was DOA (got it replaced) and I really don't want to kill it. So I uninstalled it.

Maybe I'll try again later, and not turn everything to max.

edit: It's out for PS2. I wonder how ugly it'll be.

I've tried two different demo files and both of them have that DX error... I fixed that by running the DX install that comes with it, but then it just crashes... won't even play an intro video. More quality work from EA's development studios...

*EDIT* For anyone having similar problems, once the junk is extracted, set autorun.exe to compatability mode for Windows 2000. Worked when I did that.

I have changed my opinion of the game since my post here about 3 weeks ago or so.

I have to say I really enjoy the game and once I set up my Logitech Force Feedback Wheel, I started to enjoy it more. The graphics on this game are photo realistic... I actually feel like I am there and racing. As for the time slowdown? I still hate it and NEVER use it. I never use it and I have still managed to beat the most difficult courses in the game. No, I am not saying that to brag but just saying that it wasn't need at all in the game and they should have left that crap out.

The map of Chicago is completely awesome... The ability to drive through many buildings and stadiums and so on is incredable. There is so much road... I just wish they would allow mapping, because if they did, I would be working on a Minneapolis map which would be saweet!

The cars do handle pretty decently, but this is definately not NFS-PU, but it is better than HP2. All in all, I would say this is the second best release NFS game, next to NFS-PU.
