NFS High Stakes and Wingman Wheel

Just picked up a Logitech Force Feedback Wingman Wheel. When I play with it hooked up, the transmission won't shift if I select the automatic transmission. I can shift with manual transmission selected. Unhook the wheel and the automatic transmission shifts normally. Anyone experience this before and know a fix?
