As an Asus A8N SLI Deluxe owner I am always confronted with the predjudice of low HTT overclockability, which also is promoted in some of Anand's tests, e.g. here, where my board is rated at 255 max.
With the Opteron 165, high HTTs are more important than ever ;) :D so I decided to have another look at my max HTTs yesterday and do the "Opteron 165 readyness check".

Results: Rock stable up to 315...so I consider myself compliant....w00t!
And NB temps (full load, sensor placed on bottom of heatsink) 50C.

How about you guys? What are your boards & max HTs? Also luck of the draw or predictable?

Why exactly is it that HTT is more important than ever?
memory dividers are working fine.

Sure, but memory dividers aside, the chipset has to be capable of providing high HTTs to enable overclocking of low multiplier CPUs to high levels.
Especially the Opteron 165, which has only a 9x multi.
So for 2700MHz, the HTT / FSB must be 300, which may not be reachable with all boards...
Hence my question for specific experience with max HTT / FSB according to Zebo's isolate testing policy...

Well, I've run 8x300 with my epox and a winchester, not sure about this manchester, but its at least good for 300, and goes all the way up to 400...

I put an external sensor on the bottom of the heatsink (my multimeter has this functionality). Measured during heavy 3d-marking or like to get a load temp...

Abit NV8 (nForce4-4x). Running 285HTT so far but with the LDT at 3x (so HT ~1710).

I am really disappointed in you for not overclocking your powersupply. Come on, Rich overclock those voltages, I bet you could 560 or even 580watts out of that system.

not NF4 totally but 939 boards I've tried...

Abit AN8 Ultra - 270
Asrock Sata2 - 380
Epox 9NDA3J -315
Gigabyte GA-K8NS-939 - 240

DFI NF4-U- on the way

Yeah, Uli's chipset seems to be outstanding :)

The issue with that AsRock is that while it may do high HTTs (people have gotten it to 400), it's max vcore is a whopping 1.45V :(

So unless you want to do a volt-mod, teh board is useless for serious OCing.

Oh, & to add to this thread: My Neo2 does at least up to 330 HTT; i've never bothered to try higher.

As you already know I run my everyday Oc at 292 HTT on my ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe rev1.02. My Max stable HTT speed with this board was 311, beyond that...I had unstability issues after several minutes.
I've ordered a DFI NF4 UT SLI-DR, it will arrive right today.
I am migrating to DFI guys....and I'll sell my ASUS...Why?? OCing needs....I'm looking for a 144 Opty....and for a really high HTT speed...only this board is capable of that right now...except Uli's.
I would've bought the DFI SLI-DR Expert but it's not available yet...What the hell???That board rocks...I need it...I'll buy it when it comes out...he,he!!
Have a nice day guys!!

Wow...good luck with that overclock. Would be a nice chip if you need >311 (aka >2.8GHz). :)
