nforce3 or k8t800pro? Which is better?

I decided to go to the 939 route just in case.

But now I want to know which chipset is better. From what it seems, these are my main choices. Either Gigabyte's Nforce3 board or MSI's k8t800pro.

Any suggestions?

I had a link for this yesterday, but lost it, forgot where it was. They had a review and speed tests between them. I think it was on http://www.ocworkbench.com website. From what I read and from what I remember, is that the K8T800PRO was pulling ahead in some apps, like Doom3 and Half Life and Comanche (from what I remember correctly), but in Media Player and Encoding MP3s, etc the NForce was a little faster. So it seems that in games the K8 is better.

I could be wrong, but thats what I remember from ocworkbench website. I been researching a new board myself to get, and that was one of them, but decided to go with NForce4.

Hope this helps, and if I get to that link, I will post it for ya.

Ahhh, hehehehe, found it.

Here is a link to the NVidia Force4 Ultra and K8 speed tests. I know its not NForce3, but this is what I could find.

Also, this is a link to TomsHardware to show the differences between 3 different chipsets. The NVidia3 Force
The K8T800 Pro
The Sis 755FX.
I think this is an OWESOME review for those choosing between different chipsets. I found this by mistake while looking for one, lol.

Hope this helps.

ChineseDemocracyGNR, that is a NICE review. Owesome link.

Thankx. I read review differences between them, but I am reading your link too, cause it looks very interested, the more U know the better.

DaFOBulous1, this is my personal preference ONLY. I would take the NVidia, but AGAIN this is my oWN OPINION.

Thankx Chinese, owesome link.

thx guys but again, it's nforce 3 not nforce 4 so...yea. I'm sure the nforce4 would be better than the via mentioned :)

I had bad experiences with the Via chipset and vowed to stay away from them.
On another note, the Via chipset is a tad cheaper than the Nforce 3.

Via had some problems a while back but every board I've bought from them has been solid for a while now. Via + Soltek = good combo for me.

Now it seems there is some ECS board using the nforce4 chip..not Ultra or SLI or course so would that be better than the other 2 chipsets? the 3 ultra and KT800?

That was probably true in the bad ol days of the KT133/KT266 days with the Creative/Nvidia/VIA triangle of death combo but the latest batch are fine. I'm more than happy with my Soltek-939. Nforce has a problem with stable IDE drivers, maybe Nforce4 would fix that bug..
