Right now I have a 200gig Maxtor IDE drive. I want to setup a raid 0 array, and the 89.99 outpost.com deal on maxtors is making me think about getting one. I would really like to go SATA fro both drives but I can't afford it right now. Can I get a 200gig SATA Seagate and raid it with the Maxtor? I'm Unclear if the any-raid support on the gb boards lets you mix between IDE and SATA.

Also if this does work, has anybody done this? Should this affect stability/reliability in any way?

I had a Raid 0 array in my dual PIII and I really felt the difference in drive perforamance, I wan to have raid again! :)

EDIT: Ok so I've decided to jump on the new Fry's deal for a 200gig PATA seagate. Will I see a performance difference if I put both of these drives on the same channel, versus putting one on IDE1 and one on IDE2?

some motherboards do allow raiding between SATA and PATA drives... as long as they are the same size (in your case 200 gigs) it should work
