Nforce2 Users: Nvidia Audio driver on MS Update site...

has anyone installed them? any benefits in either sound performance or improvment/fix of sound issues eg the buzzing etc?

Never use drivers from windows update! If I had dollar for every time I've seen them FUBAR someone's system I could retire.

yeah, they're all old. i dont know how many times they've completly fvcked up a computer. esp. the Nvidia driver update that ms still thinks is the latest driver, when really they're dated to October 6 of last yr.

Ya, Winblows Fvckdate is not the place to get your drivers from. Beyond them being old, in many cases your hardware will stop working properly, and occasionally they make a system unbootable. Not to mention that Microsoft will automatically load stuff that screws the system up - like automatically updating to IE6 on Windows ME - that just don't work right.

i appreciate this sentiment as a general principle, but in this case it seems that it IS a new driver that has been released for the soundstorm and is "only" available on the MS site not even on the nvidia site.

some ppl over at nforcers have installed it and say that it is version 4.09; it needs control panel 4.07 pr 4.08 to work properly though, apprantly.
mind you, other than a guy who is hosting the driver with the latest control panel, i cant find it anywhere else!
