q1 : They're all pretty close. Take your pick. Careful with the jetway thou.
q2: Read Q1 reply.
q4: Infected pc? Or overheating?

As for the MCPs, MCP = standard features. MCP-T = standard features + firewire controller + SoundStorm (well worth the extra few $$).
There's another MCP chip (dunno its accurate name) that includes a gigabit network controller, and I think a RAID controller. Although it appears your a gamer so I doubt that would benefit you as much as an MCP-T would.

I think that (AN35N-Ultra) is an excellent board - I like it just as much as my Asus A7N8X, and it was way less.

Shuttle's a good cheap no frills choice. NF7-S/non S are popular (but careful not to get one of the new neutered boards) and DFI's infinity/lanparty seem to be well liked. Epox was also popular for awhile, but like DFI I don't know much about those.

I currently run the ASUS and Abit boards and have built a couple of systems for some friends using the Shuttle board. One of the Shuttle boards burned out after a few months and I had to RMA it. However, after replacing it it's been running just fine.

They're all good boards and all fairly mature now so you won't see a lot of difference in reliability betwen them. The decision primarily comes down to features and price. Get the cheapest board that has exactly what you want for features and go with that.

q1. Guys.. This day my brother told me that he want to buy a new board with chipset "NForce2 IGP" with "Geforce4 MX" integrated, no "SATA", audio with "Nvidia Sound Storm", no "LAN", no "Firewire", no RAID", no "Dual Channel Memory", with "FSB 400", with "DDR 400", and form ATX.. Give me some advice please, what board should i buy?

q2. Is the Shuttle AN35N-Ultra have Nvidia Sound Storm? What FSB overclocking maximum on this board?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About the NVIDIA NForce2 Ultra 400GB with MCP-T, its true that this Chipset have the Standard Features + Firewire Controller + Sound Storm + Gigabit Ethernet with Firewall integrated and maybe with RAID function too, maybe.. You can find this features on EPOX EP8RDA6+ and EP8RDA3+ in www.epox.com.tw

The greatest nForce2 mobo?

In terms of max potential you can get out of your proc:
Abit NF7-S v2.0
DFI LanParty NF2 Ultra B

In terms of all the extra onboard crap you could possibly want:
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe

I agree but people achieve much higher OCs on the DFI than on the Abit. I would put the DFI #1 the Abit number 2 and the Asus #3 for the highend.

For the lowend Shuttle hands down.

Stick with ASUS or Abit IMHO

coming from the guy who bought an epox. 😉

Coming from a guy who bought ASUS P3V4X, ABIT ST-6 and Epox 8RDA+

and numerous Asus and MSI motherboards at work... some folks have reported leaky capacitors on some Epox motherboards but generally they are good.
