nForce2 question for AnandTech staff

OK, people over at nForcersHQ and are getting antsy, and want a solid answer.

Does locking the AGP bus actually lock the PCI bus as well? Similarly, when adjusting the AGP clock, does the PCI bus clock follow along, in the 2:1 ratio?

It depends on how the motherboard manufacturer wants to implement the clock generators.

The cheapest way is to use just the FSB clock generator and take all your ratios from that. Obviously there is no AGP/PCI locking.

The next option is to use a separate AGP and PCI clock generator. Both run off the same clock, but use different multipliers, and are not linked to FSB.

The most expensive option is a clock generator for each. Then you can independently define the clock speed for each device.

For cheap boards it will be the first option; for most "overclockers boards", it will be the second option.
