My friend is on a budget, looking to spend $200 on a Nforce2 Mobo and some DDR ram.

I found the Epox Nforce2 for $88 at newegg, so that leaves him with $112.

He can spend a little extra, I want him to make use of the Dual Channel DDR setup.

I found this for $60 each dimm
CRUCIAL MICRON 256MB 32x64 PC 2700 DDR RAM - OEM
184-Pin, CL=2.5-Unbuffered 2.5V, 6-Layers CT3264Z335 Requires DDR supported Motherboard - Lifetime Warranty. OEM Model#: CT3264Z335 -OEM Special Free FedEx Saver Shipping

Will that work in a Dual Channel DDR setup? Anybody have any experience with that memory?

Thanks
Jonathan

Crucial should be just fine :)

Lately the "chic" mfg. made RAM has been Samsung, but I've always had excellent results from Crucial. I think MichaelD was running a stick of Crucial 512MB PC2700 with good results until he got his Corsair back from RMA. Might wanna see his results with it. Also, if your friend can hold off a few days, reports from across the Pacific indicate sharp declines in RAM prices after the Chinese New Year. We'll find out shortly.

Also, the + model of 8RDA is $105 plus s/h from mwave.com. If your friend felt that the addition of 5.1 sound, Firewire and another two USB 2.0 outlets would be worth the extra money, there you go :D

I saw some Kingmax modules with the Kingmax TinyBGA chips for $60 per 256Mb PC3200 module at mwave.com but haven't heard remarks from people who've run them.
