nForce2 BEST motherboard to buy for under $100...

Just wondering if there is a more viable option... I would most likely do some overclocking if my 2100 can handle it...

Thanks!

Bryan

I was thinking of going with something in Epox or Abit, but considering they both offer the Nforce i might just got with that...

that's the toss up... But considering the Epox is a few $$ cheaper i might as well go for it...

Any other chipsets doing well other than Nforce?

I've recently built three nForce2 boxes, two based on the MSI board and the third has an Asus A7N8X Deluxe. All of them are purring nicely.

Do both of these boards, Epox and Abit have PCI/AGP locks...

If i crank that FSB up i don't want my AGP getting out of spec...

Thanks!

Bryan.

Abit NF7 Revision 2.0 @ excaliberpc.com for $100. Order your heatsink/cpu/ram there and get $12-$15 off for combo discounts. BTW they revision 2.0 is guaranteed, advantages include better 200MHZ+ FSB overclocking and Barton 200MHZ support. Add $20 if you want SerialATA/Soundstorm.

I built a computer for a friend with the Abit NF7, its a nice board. For under $100 i would go with either the 8rda+ or the NF7. NF7 is a great OCing board (lots of options) and V2.0 supports the 400FSB XPs coming out soon. The NF7 has a PCI/AGP lock.

Don't forget Aopen still has rebates going on a couple boards at newegg

AK79D-1394, $108, free ship, $20 rebate.
Hard to go wrong at $88 for a nForce2 with firewire built in.
That's the board I got, running my 2100 at 2700 when I game, default voltages, but as they say your mileage may vary.

Well i have a 2200+ waiting for me, on the other hand however my Crucial 2100 might not push past 140.. so overlclocking is not a must here...

I don't think the 2200 is a throughbred B so unlocking is also not an option...

Coupled with the new board, and my 9500 Pro i should be ok...

Thats why i think i am going with the Epox for 92 from newegg...

🙂

Thanks again guys...

Unless i can flip this ram off for a decent prcie 2x256 i will grab some pc 2700 and be set..
