hey i am going to buy a Asus A7N8X Mobo that uses the nforce2 chipset, and since thats from nvidia does that have any problems with the Radeon 9700pro? since Nvidia and ATI are enemies and all... should i still buy the mobo?

Current Specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
Soyo Sy-K7V Dragon mobo
ATI Radeon 9700Pro
512mb DDR PC2100 DDR

P..S. i dislike my current mobo =)

I have an Epox 8RDA nForce2 mobo. I have had no problems with my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro running AGP 8x. So far so good over here even though it is not as Asus.

I have the 8RDA and the 9500 hacked to a 9700, and as far as I'm concerned it's a match made in heaven. Absoulutely no lock-ups, infinate loops or un-completed benchmarks.

I have the A7N8X and the 9700 Pro, and it works just fine. No lockups, after upgrading the 9700 drivers from the version on the shipping CD. The one on the CD has problems with a few games, including Dark Ages of Camelot, that I play a lot.

Nope, NVidia hasn't done any shenanigans that would cause a problem. That said, my bro recently put together an integrated ECS microATX form factor with AGP slot mobo which used some form of integrated VIA chipset(don't recall the name). So I'm reading the manual and come across this gem: Nvidia graphics chipsets supported only. It was a rather interesting find.

Watch out! Your board will forcefully spit out the ATI card and perhaps electroshock you into buying a nVidia card!! ;)

Seemed like it, though they were likely just unwilling to support anything else for some reason.
