what are some of your preliminary thoughts on this set of bridges? i never was a fan of onboard chips like sound or video- especially video! i dont even want a geForce 2. i just want an efficient and stable set of bridges with optimal performance- whats should i go for?

SIS 735 is a very good chipset to look for. Currently ECS has a cheap and very well performing board. Pickup the K75SA and you probaly wont need another board for awhile.

I'm concerned about some of the issues that the SiS S735 may have if any, plus I must have overclocking. :D I'm still waiting on the reviews of the nForce based mobo's however. I need to see the new K266A chipset benched against the upcoming nForce mobo's before I make my next platform purchase. As much as I dread possible issues with Via chipsets, for the most part my Via boards have been rock solid so I have no room to complain.

I think I'm gonna skip nForce and instead go with Northwood/Intel's DDR solution. Tom's latest article in which he tried to fry four CPUs gives me the opinion that Intel has their $hit together when it comes to making reliable products.

As reliable as the 1.13 PIII and 820 chipset. ;)

Seriously though, how did that article convince you that Intel makes reliable products?

Just do what I do.

I'll wait until they're all out, but I've set the max timeframe to end of October, by then nForce and KT266A should be out, if either is not, well too bad, Ill go with whatever is the best at the time.

Including a P4 if it should prove to give some kind of decent price/performance ratio by then.

So by that logic, if Ford were to include an ejection seat and it was proven in tests between Ford trucks and Chevy trucks that the Ford had better survivability when driven off a cliff. You would hail the Ford as more reliable? How does reliability factor into that? Not that I'm saying Intel products are unreliable...quite the contrary.
