OK, I have a custom built computer with an MSI Neo2 mobo with a Nforce3 chipset. I will be doing a clean install in the next few days. The last time I did an install, I can't remember if I installed chipset drivers or just let XP handle it. Are they needed for gaming performance? Searching for my drivers, there seems to be an old issue with nForce3/6800 combos (which i have), but it could have been resolved. Anyway, should I go ahead and install these...

or let XP take care of it?

Thanks,

Get the latest nFORCE 3 drivers from nVIDIAs site.
And make sure you install them 1st, and then your graphics card drivers, and then the rest ;)

I've heard there can be some issues though. XP might be more stable, especially with the 6800 (but I have to read more about these possible issues) Is there a real advantage to the Nvidia drivers over XP? Or is it just that Nvidia offers the choice?

Oh, the old days of nF3 + 6800 issues...oh boy.

I don't remember every detail 100%, so this statement can't be taken without a grain of salt, but I think that if you were about to face the issue you'd face it with & without the nFORCE drivers.
