nForce chipset or no nForce chipset?

I need assistance for picking out a motherboard. I am currently debating between the HD 4850 or the 8800GT and depending on which card I end up purchasing determines what motherboard I am going to pair up with the card. (Here is the video card thread: HD4850 or 8800GT )

I am going to go with an Intel E8400 and G.Skill 4GB kit DDR2 800.

I was looking at the MSI 750i SLI Platinum motherboard if I was going to go with an 8800GT but what would I go for if I was to get the HD 4850?

I forgot to mention that eventually I will run either SLI or CF hence the reasoning on motherboard options.

I have been reading many reviews here on Anandtech, TomsHardware and NewEgg but without any hands on with the 'new stuff' I will leave the recommendations to those who have. FYI: I am upgrading from a AMD 64 3400+ (socket 754), MSI K8N Neo Platinum, DDR400, and an ATI X850 Pro.

Any insight would be appreciated.

In that general price range, a P45 chipset board with two PEG slots.
